Currency Newshound Commentary: Iraq will be an Arab superpower in years to come – Baghdad, Erbil, Basra, and Iraqi cities alike will possibly rival a modern metropolis such as Dubai.  But today, Iraqi’s suffer from dire physical and economical situations. I wish the very best for them in 2011.

Back home in the USA…I think many of us could wish for the very same things….Security, Stability, and Economic Prosperity.  It may not be Baghdad…but the US has suffered enough over the past few years and Lord knows we all could use some good news in 2011!

Palms – A source familiar with the fire, which broke out yesterday at the Ministry of Oil was in a section of contracts and the source said that a fire broke out yesterday was the third floor, includes floor contracts signed with foreign companies and local communities and individuals.

And Acharalamsdr who works at the Oil Ministry to the floor was damaged heavily by the fire and a large number of contracts, whether paper or burned CD’s and as usual, the ministry said an electrical short circuit caused the fire.

Karbala, Dec. 31 (AKnews) – The representative of the Shia religious authority Ali al-Sistani in Karbala criticized Friday the new government’s way of choosing the new ministers saying it lacked professional standards to choose the appropriate ministers.

Ahmed al-Safi said during the Friday prayers that the criteria used in selecting candidates for the ministries was not better than the experience of the previous government which he described as a “failure” because non-competent persons assumed ministerial office.

Iraq’s political blocs shared the government posts based on a power-sharing deal. Each bloc that had won ministerial portfolios would send the CVs of three candidates to Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki could study them and choose the best.

Baghdad / 31 December (Rn) – The deputy of the Iraqi List, Friday, that the census will take place next April in the event received a political consensus in the disputed areas.

Omar al-Jubouri of Kurdistan News Agency (Rn) “The census will not be before next April because of the holidays and religious occasions and the half-year exams for school students and teachers who rely on them to the Ministry of Planning to conduct a census of population.”

Erbil – “Weekly”: officials said on Thursday that the Kurdistan region of Iraq has strengthened security measures before New Year’s Eve after the arrest of militants said the al Qaeda-linked groups have begun turning their attention towards the region is relatively secure.

Is seen by investors and a lot of Iraqis to the Kurdish region of Iraq that have not significantly affected by the war as a safe haven in a dangerous country.

The Iraqi government spokesman Ali Dabbagh said the Jordanian Prime Minister Samir Rifai for his visit to Baghdad, which was scheduled yesterday to next Monday. But did not reveal the reasons for the delay, saying only in a press statement that the visit «postponed from Thursday (yesterday) to next Monday». And I learned from the network

Erbil, Dec.31 (AKnews)- A member of the Kurdistan Regional parliament said parliament convenes to discuss budget bill anytime the bill arrives, even during parliamentary recess.

The Kurdish parliament has four months recess, Jan. to March and July to Sep.

Zakiya Salih told AKnews the lawmakers are requested to gather in parliament anytime the bill reaches the Kurdish parliament.

The two-speed global economic recovery is likely to dominate 2011, with weak growth in advanced economies barely enough to bring down unemployment and emerging markets facing the challenges of success, including how to avoid overheating and handle strong capital inflows, the IMF’s Chief Economist, Olivier Blanchard, said.
In an assessment of the global economy at the end of 2010, and the prospects for 2011, Blanchard said that countries should continue to focus on rebalancing their economies in the coming year, including structural measures and exchange rate adjustments.

Baghdad (news) .. warned a financial expert, Dr. Hamad Al-Bashir Alwan of the delay in approving the budget for the financial Szbbh to reduce the incentive for private sector investment in the country.

Hamad said in a statement to the reporter Agency (news) said today that there is a significant effect might bring delay budget economic because the expenses of the state represents the many aspects of investment expenditure, which absorbs unemployment, including manufacturing, which fill the deficit in the low level of income for many segments of society as well as an actual expenditure by represent the benefits and services that benefit the community and the Iraqi economy.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: invited the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Baghdad, Thursday, to change the image of Iraq, “distorted” in some media that are trying to show that the country is destroyed and full of terrorists, during a meeting with the Minister of Culture, the new Saadoun al-Dulaimi, said in a statement to the Office of the latter.

Baghdad, Dec.31 (AKnews)- The Iraqi prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki’s adviser for financial affairs said Thursday in the coming Arab Summit in Baghdad, Iraq will urge creation of an “exclusive” Arab trade organization, similar to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The organization is to boost economical cooperation and trade exchange among the oil producing, industrial and commercial Arab countries, Salam Qurayshi told AKnews.
