Feb 11 (Reuters) – The International Monetary Fund welcomed changes to Vietnam’s currency regime and devaluation on Friday, but said the authorities needed a “broader set of policies” to restore macroeconomic stability.
“We welcome the move to normalise operations in the foreign exchange market, by closing the gap between the official and parallel exchange rates. We also welcome the intention to move to a more flexible exchange rate regime,” the Fund’s senior representative in Vietnam, Benedict Bingham, said.

Vietnam’s Record Devaluation Adds Urgency for Action on Prices, IMF Says

Vietnam’s devaluation of the dong yesterday by about 7 percent, the most since at least 1993, needs to be followed with steps to curb inflation, the International Monetary Fund and Citigroup Inc. said.
The dong slumped to as weak as 20,893 per dollar, compared with 19,490 on Feb. 10, and closed at 20,875 in Hanoi yesterday. The State Bank of Vietnam fixed the reference rate for the currency at 20,693 versus 18,932 the previous day, or 8.5 percent weaker.
The trading band for the currency was narrowed to 1 percent on either side of the rate from 3 percent previously.

The deputy of the Iraqi List, said Friday that the Iraqi Council of Representatives will be amendments to eliminate the transfer of financial allocations from door to door within the budget law this year, stressing that the council would not bring the draft budget law to Government to modify, and would accept the amendments, including conducted by such approval.

House of Representatives is determined to approve the budget next Tuesday

A member of the House of Representatives for the National Alliance Abbas al-Bayati said that the House of Representatives is determined to pass the state budget next Tuesday, noting that this date is in accordance to the requests of local and international.
