Iraqi PM hails outcome of his visit to Kuwait

BAGHDAD, Feb 17 (KUNA) — Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki said Thursday his official visit to Kuwait yesterday was a complete success.

Speaking to reporters at his office here, Al-Maliki said: “The visit to sisterly Kuwait was part of our policy of openning-up to the outside world aiming to solve all problems of Iraq particularly those relating to the Gulf region and the neighbors.”

“We have discussed all the legacy of problems from the former (Iraqi) regime resulting from the occupation of the State of Kuwait. Such problems hamper our efforts to rebuilt Iraq, interrelate with the crises registered at the UN and UN Security Council and resulted in the UN-imposed sanctions on Iraq,” the prime minister pointed out.

Economic Commission calls on Kuwait to Iraq exemption from deductions of compensation

Economic Committee called for the parliamentary, Thursday, the government and the Kuwaiti National Assembly of Iraq exempt compensation deductions amounting to 5% of Iraqi oil exports, as well as the cancellation of the remainder of Iraq’s debt, noting that it weighs the Iraqi budget.
