Revealed the Integrity Commission for the restoration of more than the trillion and 600 billion dinars in 2844 and accused of corruption referred to the competent courts and seized 237 red-handed crimes of corruption during the past year.
The director of the Integrity Commission in Karbala Lawyer bright-Ghazali told a news conference held in the province to discuss the national strategy to combat corruption and the presence of the “morning”: that the issues uncovered by the Commission in 2010 tripled from the year 2009, thanks to the growing capabilities of investigators, the Commission in the prosecution of corruption and rhythm Palmtalpsin.
He stressed that the issue of administrative and financial corruption in Iraq is still facing many challenges and problems that the ministries do not operate in a transparent manner, in addition to the lack of public sector experience, competence and integrity of many of its leaders and outdated methods of work and production, warning that delay completion of e-government project and the spread and consolidation of social values, political and administrative corruption of the incubator or the garrison has contributed to its spread.
Ghazali said that among the causes of widespread corruption and the difficulty of treatment failure of the banking system and its inability to hold tools, proper application of the procedures and requirements to prevent money laundering operations in the country unable to make the prosecution of these operations.
And the separation of the most important indicators of the Commission’s work during the year 2010 by saying: it received 17 thousand and 67 proceedings, including a 8617 lawsuit news about corruption cases and 8450 criminal case, in addition to the 8950 proclamation to allegations of corruption, pointing out that the authority seized 237 suspects red-handed with crimes of corruption in 1205 operations.
He noted that the number required for the body at 83 thousand and 78 accused of corruption, including 247 staff members the rank of director general and eight rank of minister, as well as the assignment in 2844, accusing the courts, including 118 of the election candidates and 207 rank of director general and one the rank of minister.
He explained that the number of people who were tried was in 1368, accusing 0.528 accused were tried in his presence, and 488 in absentia, including 110 convicted of the rank of director general and 84 of the election candidates and 12 the rank of minister, was released on 352 accused of whom he said, adding that 173 convicted have been suspended implementation of the verdicts issued against them. He continued by saying: that in 1619 accused of corruption were arrested, 22 of them the rank of director general, pointing out that the investigators opened the files out of 25 accused fled the country and has for the first time since the establishment of the Integrity Commission to restore the four convicts took refuge in Lebanon.
