UK Cuts Aid to IraqBritain’s International Development Secretary, Andrew Mitchell (pictured), announced on Tuesday the key outcomes of two aid reviews and set out the results that UK aid will deliver for the world’s poorest people over the next four years.

These ambitious reviews of DFID’s [Department for International Development] country programmes and funding to international organisations will, according to the Minister’s statement, make Britain’s aid budget more focused and effective.

Baghdad, March. 1 (AKnews) – AL- Iraqiya List confirmed Tuesday its intention to form a National Council for the strategic policies, but not far away from the parliament, while state of law coalition refused AL-Iraqiya proposal to vote on the forming the council in the parliament.

The MP of AL- Iraqiya List, Talal al-Zobaie told AKnews that “AL-Iraqiya List is determined to form a National Council for the strategic policies as stated in the Convention on Kurdistan Region’s President,  Massoud Barzani with AL-Iraqiya leaders.

Baghdad, March 1 (Rn) – The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq said on Tuesday that the Cabinet decided to provide all the ration card items during the next few days.

Al-Mutlaq said at a news conference held after the end of the meeting of the Council of Ministers at the Council in Baghdad and attended by the correspondent of news agency Kurdistan (Rn) that “the ration card items will provide the citizen in a few months,” adding that “the sugar dissolved a large part of the problem and will solve the problem once and for a period of short “.

State of law coalition member Khaled Asadi Tuesday, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki studying biographies of more than 10 candidates for the security ministries to come up with names given conviction and brought to the House to vote on them. He said Al-Assadi, a leading member of the Islamic Dawa party led by Al-Maliki (aknews) “head of Government is keen to finish the security ministries file as soon as possible and produce professional names to manage this sensitive ministries.

He stressed that “political blocs agreements, the Prime Minister bears responsibility for the selection of Security Ministers, assumed the Presidency and members of the House to appreciate this responsibility in voting on the candidates.

Gold prices rose to near record levels on the New York Spot Market on Tuesday as unrest in Libya and concerns about inflation globally spurred demand for the metal as a “safe haven” asset. As of 9:45 AM Pacific Time, gold prices were up over $18 per ounce to $1,431. Silver prices also advanced to their highest level since 1980.

BAGHDAD – The Feed – member bloc criticized the Liberal-affiliated National Alliance MP Maha periodic House of Representatives to postpone the emergency meeting to next week, pointing out that delay is unwarranted.

Iraq may be safest Arab country: MalikiBAGHDAD (AFP) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Monday that Iraq may be the safest country in the Arab world, as protests and violence rage across much of the region.

Maliki’s remarks came as he reiterated his optimism that an ArabLeague summit set to be held in Baghdad on March 29 would go ahead as scheduled, despite the upheaval.

Oil investors: Don’t forget Iraq. While Libya’s clashes dominate the oil market, Iraq will have far more impact on prices in the medium term. This weekend’s bomb attack on the Baiji oil refinery was a timely reminder.

Baiji is small, processing less than 0.4% of global oil supply. But the attack is troubling for two reasons.

Baghdad, March 1 (AKnews) – The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the Arab foreign ministers will discuss in a meeting tomorrow the holding of the Arab Summit in Baghdad scheduled to begin at the end of this month.

The Ministry’s undersecretary Lubaid al-Abbawi, told AKnews that the meeting of the ministers will be held in the Egyptian capital Cairo amid widespread speculation that the summit will be postponed due to the wave of public protests currently sweeping across many of the participating Arab states.

BAGHDAD (Iba) … A member of the House of Representatives for the Iraqi List, Haidar al-Mulla said that the Iraqi people chose freedom as a strategic choice to ensure the continuity of his democracy, stressing the need for everyone to be aware that he could not one that stands in the evolution of the democratic process in the country.

He said Mullah, told the independent press (Iba) that what happened during the popular demonstrations big day last Friday and the previous statements give a clear indication of the inability of some to deal Democrat with the right of the rights of citizens guaranteed by the Constitution calling for Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to provide a formal apology for charges made by the the demonstrators the day before the demonstrations on Friday.

Mullah called on the government to the need for sponsorship of events and send a positive message to the citizens of Iraq to prove their ability to interact with the legitimate demands are not pressing charges and curfews and the closure of streets and bridges to prevent the citizens to express freely their demands.

Article 38 III of the Constitution, the Iraqi state, including to ensure it does not violate public order and morality on the freedom of assembly and peaceful demonstration organized by law.

Called civil society organizations in the province of Najaf to a peaceful demonstration on Friday after identifying several demands serve the interests of the Iraqi people.

This came during a lengthy meeting was held on the Square Agricultural Engineers Association attended by representatives of civil society organizations in Najaf.

The Amer Aekeche spokesman for civil society organizations in Najaf’s “citizen” that “the organizations announced that non-participation in a demonstration last Friday and Orjt demonstration on Friday to come,”

A member of the House of Representatives for the National Alliance Hussein al-Asadi said Machhdh global markets of rising oil prices will reflect positively on the increased financial allocations for the ration cards and the social welfare network and the martyrs of terrorism as well as the distribution of cash money on the citizens.

He said al-Asadi told the independent press (Iba) The adoption of the budget for the current year was based on the price of a barrel of oil 76 and a half dollar and any increase in price this will an abundance of budget funds will be distributed according to the priorities mentioned above.

The leader of the coalition of state law on Tuesday that Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was currently studying the biographies of more than a dozen candidates for the ministries of security, out of names undermine his conviction and bring them to the House of Representatives to vote on them.

Khaled al-Asadi, told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) “Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was currently studying the biographies of more than a dozen candidates to fill the three security ministries (interior, defense and national security).”

He said al-Asadi, a leader of the Islamic Dawa Party led by al-Maliki said “the prime minister is keen on the completion of file security ministries as soon as possible and get out the names of professional management of these sensitive ministries.”

A member of the parliamentary oil and gas, Tuesday, that the problems between Baghdad and Arbil are supposed to be resolved during the current year being impacted negatively on the reality of Iraqi oil exports in the previous phase.

He said Furat al-Shara, told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “the oil and gas parliamentary stresses the need for resolving all disputes and technical barriers between Baghdad and Erbil, with respect to export crude oil.”

He added that “these problems have affected the price of Iraqi oil should be resolved as soon as possible, as well as finding solutions through its final means of dialogue and mutual understanding between the two sides.”

Said the official spokesman for the Ministry of Oil, Tuesday, that the ministry has decided to increase the provincial share of monthly oil, gas, starting from the month of March instant.
