BAGHDAD — An Iraqi Central Bank official says per capita income in the country is projected to more than double within the next four years as a result of a sharp increase in Iraq’s oil output and higher market prices for oil, RFE/RL’s Radio Free Iraq (RFI) reports.
Majid al-Suri, a Central Bank economist, told RFI that per capita income in Iraq is expected to reach some $10,000 by the end of 2015 compared with about $4,500 at present.

The decision to place independent bodies under the ministerial council is moving forward as Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki called on heads of independent bodies to set a timeline for the progress of their programs similarly to the 100 day deadline he set for his Cabinet.
Al Maliki stressed the necessity to reach a political consensus inside the Parliament in order to dissolve provincial and municipal councils and hold early elections.
As part of the reform campaign he announced two weeks ago, Prime Minister Al Maliki revealed a mammoth investment campaign worth of 70 billion dollar to rehabilitate infrastructure.
Iraqi Parliament is positive about this plan, he said.
