Baghdad, April 2 (AKnews) – The al-Iraqiya list is expected to hold an urgent meeting Saturday to resolve the issue of a candidate the list is entitled to name to the prime minister to hold the position of minister of defense.

Baghdad, April 2 (AKnews) – The political blocs in the Iraqi parliament have finally agreed on candidates for two key government positions, the ministries of the interior and planning, after months of disputes.
The new Iraqi cabinet was sworn in December incompletely due to disputes over the security-related ministries. According to the political agreements, the Iraqiya list had the right to hold the Defense Ministry, while the National Coalition (NC) led by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will hold the Ministries of the Interior and National Security.

Gold shops on Ha Trung Street, known as a centre of foreign currency exchange in Hanoi, refused to answer phone calls about exchanging money. However, they were willing to provide services to individuals directly at their shops on March 31.
The owner of one gold shop, when asked about the possibility of buying USD, answered with a question about the volume of the exchange. The rate on that day was set at VND21,150/USD.

BAGHDAD (AFP): U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey, the number of workers in the embassy, which was the largest in the world, will double after the scheduled withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country end of this year.
He told reporters, “We will double our size if approved it, and if we receive the necessary funds from Congress for the years 2011 and 2012.” He added that the number of “workers will double from about eight thousand currently by the year 2012,” noting that U.S. forces would be a small fraction of these numbers.

KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq – The delay of naming security cabinet ministers is fully undermining the s1ecurity situation in the country, a Legislature from al-Iraqiya List, led by Iyad Allawi, said on Saturday.
“Al-Iraqiya list had presented candidates to Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, who were Falah al-Naqib and Khalid al-Obeidy,” Mohammed Khudhier al-Daamy told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, promising that his list would support any candidate chosen by Maliki.
