BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: A presidential statement said today that the meeting of the political leaders was held in positive and frank atmosphere, during which it was agreed to stop all media abuses that might tense the atmosphere.

The statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, added that the meeting was held upon an invitation by President Jalal Talabani, during which overall and frank discussions were held for pending issued.

Vietnam: Central bank advised to not let dollar depreciate any further

VietFinanceNews.com – The State Bank of Vietnam has sighed with relief when the dong/dollar exchange rate adjustment and with a series of measures taken, has forced the dollar prices down and stabilized the market. However, if the dollar depreciates further, this may cause problems in long term.

The Vietnam Banking Association (VNBA) has sent a document to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), warning that the “de-phasing” between the capital mobilizations and lending in foreign currencies may cause big difficulties to commercial banks in the time to come.

Maliki to announce result of 100-day evaluation

Erbil, June 20 (AKnews) – Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will announce his evaluation of his cabinet tomorrow after the 100-day period he allotted for his ministers to improve their performance, officials said.

Yasin Hasan, state minister and Adel Barwari, an adviser to Maliki, told AKnews the report will be presented in the ordinary session of Council of Ministers on Tuesday.

Vietnam economy: Forecast growth of 6.5% next year

VietFinanceNews.com – Viet Nam’s economy is set to grow by 6.5 per cent during 2012, according to Directive No 922/CT-TTg, released yesterday, June 19.

Containers await pickup after being unloaded at the Tan Cang-Cai Mep Port in Ba Ria-Vung tau Province. Increasing import-export revenues will contribute much to the country’s economic development next year.

The directive calls on ministries, authorities, State economic groups and corporations to submit their socio-economic development plans and budget estimates for 2012 before August 2011.

On Friday June 17, 2011 Iraqi protesters again took to the streets. They were seen in fewer locations than last week. They were also faced with another pro-government demonstration in Baghdad, which captured most of the headlines in the Iraqi press.

The Iraqi media reported two protests on June 17, and there were two others. One was in Nasiriyah, Dhi Qar where three activists were arrested. The security forces claimed that no permit was given for the march. 20 other demonstrators were being forced into vans when their compatriots came to their rescue.

Executive Director of the Iraqi securities commission Abdul Razzaq al-Saadi told AKnews today that HHPT has done the necessary groundwork and pledged to put up the capital needed, in coordination with the securities market, to develop the market and raise the foreign commercial shares.

Baghdad, June 20 (Rn) – The Central Bank of Iraq, Monday, that monetary policy is able to reduce the persistence of high inflation in the country.

The central bank adviser said the appearance of Mohammed Saleh told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “monetary policy and through the Central Bank of Iraq has a legal and financial tools to meet the continuing high inflation in the country.”

Iraq hunting $17 billion missing after U.S. invasion

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Iraq’s parliament is chasing about $17 billion of Iraqi oil money it says was stolen after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion and has asked the United Nations for help to track it down.

The missing money was shipped to Iraq from the United States to help with reconstruction after the ouster of Saddam Hussein.

In a letter to the U.N. office in Baghdad last month, parliament’s Integrity Committee asked for help to find and recover the oil money taken from the Development Fund of Iraq (DFI) in 2004 and lost in the chaos that followed the invasion.
