CBI: 20 private banks initialized electronic clearing system

Baghdad, July 6 (Rn) – The Central Bank of Iraq, Wednesday, that 20 private banks began to work according to the electronic clearing system, noting that there are efforts to introduce government banks in this system.
The central bank announced last February that six private banks began using the electronic clearing system.
The central bank adviser said the appearance of Mohammed Saleh told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “the 20 banks began to work according to the electronic clearing system is an important step for the development of the payments system in the country and the mechanisms of private and state banks.”

Erbil, July 6 (Aknews) – The U.S. is willing to leave as many as 10,000 soldiers on Iraqi soil after the end of year deadline for withdrawal, U.S. media has reported.
Any extension would require a formal request from the Iraqi government, which is by no means certain. The ruling coalition is deeply divided about whether to call for troops to stay.
The U.S. administration has indicated that time is running out for the Iraqi government to make a decision one way or the other.
