Industry calls for the application of the law to protect Iraqi products No. 11 of 2010

Iraq Private banks face state control of the sector

BAGHDAD, July 22 (UPI) — Iraqi leaders likely will miss this weekend’s deadline to decide whether to ask U.S. military troops to stay beyond December, U.S. and Iraqi officials said.

President Jalal Talabani gave Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and others until Saturday to reach agreement on what, if any, U.S. military presence Iraq may need beyond Dec. 31, the date American troops are to withdraw from Iraq.

VietFinanceNews.com – The State Bank of Vietnam has purchased USD4.8 billion since the beginning of the year, Governor Nguyen Van Giau has revealed.

A report by the Government, sent to National Assembly deputies who are meeting today and which did not state when the dollars were purchased, said there had been an improvement in national foreign reserves since the beginning of the year.

Last June, Giau said: “Foreign reserves have increased sharply over the past two months.”

Hien made the statement on the first working day (July 21) of the 13th National Assembly’s first session to elect new leaders for the next four years.

In a report reviewing the country’s socio-economic situation in the first six months of this year, Hien said Vietnam’s price consumer index (CPI) increased 13.29% against December 2010, raising the nation’s CPI in the period by 16.03% against the same phase of 2010.
