The Central Bank of Sudan (CBS) launched the new Sudanese Pound throughout North Sudan on Sunday.
The South Sudan Pound began circulation on 18 July, nine days after the country spilt amid fears that North and South Sudan will become engaged in economic warfare.
South Sudan seceded on 9 July after its people voted in a plebiscite in January 2011. The vote came as a stipulation of theComprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which ended more than two decades of civil war in 2005.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign assets are forecast to reach a new peak of 1.9 trillion riyals ($506.6 billion) at the end of 2011 from 1,806 billion riyals in April due to strong oil prices and higher crude output, the National Commercial Bank (NCB) said.
Crude prices hovering at $100 a barrel have allowed Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, to experience robust revenues over recent months.
The kingdom had also boosted its crude supply to one of its highest levels of 9.4 million barrels a day to plug the gap in Libya’s output disrupted by civil unrest.

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)–Inflation, real-estate bubbles and weak monetary controls pose “significant risks to financial and macroeconomic stability” in China, and China should boost the value of its currency to combat those threats, the International Monetary Fund said.
The IMF used its annual review of China’s economy to lay out a broad agenda of change for China–including a stronger currency, higher interest rates, reduced advantages for big state-owned enterprises and a liberalized financial sector. Such changes were necessary, the IMF argued to improve Chinese living standards and reduce conflict with its trading partners.

The deadline imposed by President Jalal Talabani passed over the weekend with lawmakers divided over how or even whether to request an extension, raising questions about when Iraq may ask and whether it will be too late to turn around withdrawing troops.
