About the Annual Meetings

The Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (Fund) and the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (Bank) normally meet once a year to discuss the work of their respective institutions. The Annual Meetings, which generally take place in September-October, have customarily been held in Washington for two consecutive years and in another member country in the third year.

The Inaugural Meeting of the Boards of Governors was held in Savannah, Georgia, USA in March 1946. The first Annual Meetings were held in Washington in 1946.

Erbil, Sept. 21 (AKnews) – Iraq’s Parliament speaker Osama Nujaifi is expected to visit Kuwait for talks over pending issues.

Kuwait’s al-Dar Newspaper reported that Nujaifi will visit several countries, including Iran, but his main focus will be Kuwait. The newspaper did not report when this trip is going to be.

There are several issues lingering between Kuwait and Iraq that frequently spark tensions between the two neighbors: shared oil fields, land and water border demarcations, and the controversial Kuwaiti Mubarak Port which Iraqis believe will take business away from their ports and effect fishermen working in the Gulf.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: a statement for the presidency, on Wednesday, President Jalal Talabani attended the opening of the meetings of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York and deliver a speech, Iraq on Friday, noting that Talabani obtain the approval of a UN support of statehood.

The statement received by the agency (Voices of Iraq) a copy of President Talabani attended the Wednesday opening of the meetings of the General Assembly of the United Nations its session sixty-sixth, noting that “it is scheduled to give the president the word Iraq in meetings the day after tomorrow, Friday (23 September this month).”

The Chief of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Thursday, that the invitation to the cleric Moqtada al-Sadr to give the people a share of the oil is an issue between the government and the chest, but he stressed that the Parliament would agree to such a call, if requested by the government that legally.

Osama al-Najafi, during a press conference held at Parliament House and attended by “Alsumaria News”, “as called for by the cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, giving people a share of the oil is the subject between the government and Sadr,” asserting that “the House of Representatives be approved if the government has made a request law does not conflict with the Constitution. “

Baghdad, September 22 / September (Rn) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Thursday, with Vice President Joe Biden in a telephone interview conducted by the latter conditions the survival of U.S. experts to train Iraqi forces after the due date for the withdrawal of the U.S. Army at the end of this year.

The political blocs, Maliki’s government has authorized to conduct negotiations with the United States to keep the American military trainers after the date of withdrawal, but the two sides have yet to reach agreement in this regard.

BAGHDAD / Nina /– Member of the Parliamentary Legal Comm ittee MP ,Hassoun Fatlawi announced today that the committee postponed discussion of the draft law of the National Suprem Council for Strategic Policies and legal amnesty to the next Sunday.

He said in a statement to NINA : “It is likely that the articles of the NSCSP will be subjected to amendment after studying the terms of its draft law whether they are in consistent with the Constitution or not , to develop either a modifications or cancellation in full.”

Agreed by President Jalal Talabani with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on the importance of sustaining the dialogue between the two countries to resolve all outstanding issues and the development of bilateral relations.

Parliament held its the 31 in the presence of 200 deputies

Revealed adviser in the Iraqi government that the Iraqi government headquarters and provided appropriate for the Kuwaiti Embassy in Iraq. Said Abdul-Hussein Al Jabri said that “the Iraqi government has allocated the appropriate place for the headquarters of the Kuwaiti embassy in Iraq in the International Zone and will send a formal letter through the Foreign Ministry to resume the work of the Kuwaiti ambassador in Baghdad.”

He added that “the Iraqi government does not wish for the withdrawal of the Kuwaiti ambassador and that the exercise of his work yet because he was in Iraq, reduces spasms especially with regard to the file of the port of Kuwait’s Mubarak.”

VietFinanceNews.com – The big differential between local and international gold prices – at some US$1 million a tael now – has exerted little pressure on the exchange rate at home, but many experts still predict forex volatility at the year’s end.

The inter-bank exchange rate on Monday was still maintained by the central bank at VND20,628, allowing banks to quote the U.S. dollar at a maximum VND20,834 given the trading band of 1%. The dollar on the unofficial market on Monday afternoon traded at VND21,040-VND21,090, a slight fall of VND10 against last weekend.

However, experts all agreed that the pressure on the exchange rate will be high at the end of the year due to the rising need for the greenback among enterprises at the time coupled with a possible rise in trade deficit.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The President of the House of Representatives Osama Najafi, Wednesday, during a meeting with a member of the European Parliament, Emma Nicholson, the need to open areas in front of all European investment in Iraq.

Erbil, September 22 (Rn) – U.S. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance said Thursday that he hoped to discuss the Iraqi Council of Representatives budget for fiscal year 2012 amounting to more than 130 trillion dinars Sunday, noting that the share of the Kurdistan region of 17% of the total Iraqi budget as it was during the previous years.

The Prophet said Fadel told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “it is scheduled to discuss the Iraqi Council of Representatives during its upcoming Sunday, the draft federal budget law for 2012 discretionary.”
