Kurdistan hydrocarbon conference underway

Erbil, Nov. 13 (AKnews) – Hundreds of oil companies have come to Kurdistan Region for the first international conference on Iraqi and Kurdish oil and gas in Erbil.

Iraq Petroleum 2011 Oil & Gas Conference has been arranged by CWC Group in partnership with Iraqi Kurdistan Region Ministry of Natural Resources.

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Barnham Saleh, the speaker of the Kurdistan Region Parliament Kemal Kirkuki, and Turkish deputy energy minister Yusuf Yazar attended the conference. (more…)

WASHINGTON — The future of Iraq hinges not on the status of U.S. troops or its deep oil wells but on whether Iraqis can muster a sense of hope in their collective future.

Iraqis waiting for hours in line for gasoline or fanning away flies until the electricity comes back on are understandably skeptical of government promises. They bear the scars of their own government’s dismal history. They also believe the United States has its own interests in mind, and does not have unlimited political will to slough through decades of messy, expensive problem solving.

Iraqi Legislature demands US Administration to allow Iraq play its leading Arab role

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Legislature of the so-called White al-Iraqiya Bloc, Alia Nuseif, has called on the US Administration to allow “Iraq play its leading role on the Arab arena, after the retreat of the role of Egypt and Saudi Arabia,” as she said on Sunday.

“The American Administration must deal with Iraq, in such a way that copes with the Agreement, signed between both countries, through allowing Iraq to occupy its leading role in the Arab decision, in the background of the retreat of the Egyptian-Saudi role,” Nuseif told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Baghdad, November 13 (Rn) – criticized the Energy Committee in the Iraqi parliament on Sunday, the position of the Ministry of oil from the work of some foreign oil companies in the Kurdistan region in the field of oil exploration, asserting that the prevention of the ministry for the work of foreign companies in the oil fields against the recent agreement between the Baghdad and Erbil.

A member of the Commission on oil and energy parliamentary Furat al-Shara told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) announced today that “the decision of the Ministry of Oil on the prevention of a company the stricken Mobil U.S. to work in the Kurdistan region in the field of oil exploration affects the recent agreement between Baghdad and Erbil.” (more…)

Barham Salih: agreement with Baghdad to raise the region’s oil exports

Arbil (news) .. announced the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region, Barham Salih, to reach an agreement with the federal government to raise the Region’s exports of oil to 175 thousand barrels per day.

The Iraqi Council of representatives, announced Sunday it will be held tomorrow an expanded Conference of Governors and members of provincial councils under the auspices of the President of Parliament Osama alngivi.

He said the House decision in an interview for peirse “Sumerian news”, “the Parliament will be held on Monday (14 current) an expanded Conference of Governors and members of provincial councils under the auspices of the President of the Board members attending Usama alngivi from financial and legal committees and territories”, stating that “the Conference will be held at the request of 12 counties”.
