6 candidates nominated for Iraq’s vacant Defense Minister’s post

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Six officers have been nominated for vacant Iraqi Defense Minister’s post by the “Independent Civil Society Alliance,” the Secretary-General of the “Honest Iraqi Sons Alliance,” Sheikh Abbas al-Mohammadawi stated on Saturday.

“Following the long time that took place to put an end for the crisis of appointing Iraq’s Security Ministers, and as the Iraqi citizen had paid the tax for this delay, that caused the deterioration of the security in the country, the Independent Civil Society Alliance had nominated 6 personalities for the Defense Minister’s post,” Mohammadawi said in a statement, copy of which was received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Erbil, Nov. 19 (AKnews) – A British-Iraqi economy conference is expected to open in London this week to encourage British investment in Iraq.

The conference will start on 22 November in London and will last two days.

The Iraqi delegation, headed by deputy Iraqi Prime Minister, Hussein al-Shahristani, is expected to fly to London tomorrow. The delegation is expected to include Iraqi Trade and Industry Minister Khairullah Hasan, and Kurdistan Region’s Investment Board chairman. (more…)

Shahristani: oil wealth belongs to all Iraqis

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy, Hussain al-Shahristani said that the dispute over management of oil wealth in the country other than an initial far from political bargaining, and added that the government believes that oil and gas belongs to all Iraqis must Astthmarhma to achieve higher revenue and the benefit of Iraq.

Baghdad, 19 / November (Rn) – The number of members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives on Saturday, to work to mitigate the current political crisis in the country and not to launch accusations against others, stressing the need to hold dialogues quiet and stay away from conflicts and political disputes between the blocks.

He attributed the deputies, the crisis experienced by the suffocating political process for many reasons, including near the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, and stuck some of the blocks and their positions not to compromise on its agenda.

In this context, said deputy state law, Kamal Saadi, told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) to the “importance to hold dialogues maturity and mind between the parties away from retrenchment and stability of the situation” one pointing saying, “We need to dialogue discreet and quiet designed to appease the political arena in Iraq “. Baghdad, November 19 (Rn) – The media office of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Saturday, that the latter will begin an official visit to Japan at the head of an economic delegation, including ministers in the government.

The media adviser in the Office of the Prime Minister Mary Rayes told the Kurdish news agency (Rn), “Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki of Iraq will leave this evening for Japan in the framework of official visit of an economic nature Amari.”

Rayes explained that “al-Maliki will head a delegation comprising the Minister of Oil and Minister of Industry, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chairman of the National Investment Commission, and Chairman of the advisers in the prime minister, additional to the officials in some ministries.” (more…)

A member of the coalition of state law and MP / National Alliance / Abbas al-Bayati said the House will vote against 31 law during the first month of its new session on security aspects and service and the laws of the various ministries in addition to the cancellation of a number of decisions of the Revolutionary Command Council dissolved.

For the past several years, the World Bank has been issuing an annual report on the business environment around the world, called “Doing Business.” The latest issue has just been released. In it, Iraq barely moved up the list, mostly because other countries moved down. Overall, Iraq continues to be one of the most difficult places in the world to do business.

Out of 183 countries included in the World Bank report, Iraq was ranked number 164 in ease of doing business. Last year, it was 166, and the year before that 153. Iraq was at the bottom of the Middle East and North Africa in the 2011 findings. In comparison, Saudi Arabia was number 12, the United Arab Emirates number 33, Israel 34, Qatar 36, Tunisia 46, Oman 49, Kuwait 67, Morocco 94, Jordan 96, Yemen 99, Lebanon 104, Egypt 110, Palestine 131, Syria 134, Iran 144, and Algeria 148. That led to a regional average score of 93. Iraq was far below that, and not even close to Iran and Algeria who were also at the bottom of Arab and Persian countries. (more…)

A member of the House of Representatives and former Judge Wael Abdul Latif to a weakness in the oil and gas law within the Iraqi state.

A member of the security and defense committee in the House of Representatives Qasim al-Araji said the U.S. delegation’s visit to Iraq comes cascading part of the discussion in the latest developments in the withdrawal of their forces and a post-withdrawal.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki announced on Wednesday, that 2012 monetary budget will be referred to the parliament soon. Many countries agreed upon executing projects according to a deferred payment plan, Maliki revealed calling provinces to invest in private as well as foreign sectors.

“The cabinet will soon refer 2012 monetary budget to the parliament,” Maliki said during a conference for governors and heads of provincial councils held at the ministerial council and attended by Alsumarianews.

“The budget focused on the operational side which weighed it down,” he pointed up.

State law requires accountability of parliamentarians who visited Israel .. And calls on Iraqi leaders to host the security services

The media revealed, quoting parliamentary sources, the parliamentarians visited Israel two weeks ago and they were received by Israeli officials.

The source, who declined to be named, pointed out that these two characters are well known and often appear on TV screens, not to mention their names.
