Iraqi legislators end first, second reading of eight draft laws; Reconvene monday

Baghdad (news) .. ended the House of Representatives in regular session IV of the second legislative term of the year the second legislative session was chaired by Osama Najafi, Chairman of the House of Representatives and the presence of 176 representatives, on Saturday, the first reading and the second of eight draft laws.

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said Saturday that his ministry will provide all required support and will work to urge States, officials and prominent Arab and Islamic countries to attend the Festival of Najaf, the capital of Islamic culture, “revealing that” Iraq has received a formal response from Qatar that it will participate in the festival through Qatari Minister of Culture and the official delegation. “

Mayahi calling on the government to send the budget before the withdrawal of U.S. troops

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Parliament has decided to discuss the 2nd reading for the draft-law of confiscating the movable and immovable properties of members of Iraq’s former regime, in its Saturday session, a Parliament media source reported.

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani criticized US-Iraqi negotiations and the results thereof such as not granting US soldiers and trainers immunity to stay in Iraq.

Zebari, Iraq declared a reservation to impose economic sanctions on Syria

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on Saturday that Iraq has reservations on the draft resolution of the Arab League, which would impose economic sanctions on Syria.

BAGHDAD, Nov. 26 (AKnews) – The Iraqi government will try to protect the nation’s capital Baghdad with a fence against insurgent attacks next year.

Maj. Gen. Qassim Atta, spokesman of the Commander General of the Armed Forces, said yesterday that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki ordered the construction of the fence in early 2012.

“Instead of a concrete wall the Army will build a security fence, equipped with the newest devices and technologies in the field of observation,” Atta said. (more…)
