UN Secretary-General of the United Nations, Wednesday, that the Compensation Commission for the invasion of Saddam’s regime of Kuwait, and the Comptroller stressed the need to develop the Iraqi government, the mechanism accounting appropriate to ensure the enrollment of 5%, and the transfer of similar value to the Compensation Fund, while expressing appreciation to the Government Iraq for its continued cooperation with the Compensation Committee.
And Ban Ki-moon, in a report to the Security Council, expressed his satisfaction for the continuation of Iraq transfer 5% of its oil revenues to the United Nations Fund for compensation, according to the UN Security Council resolution, noting at the same time the need for an assessment of the following account of the United Nations Fund for Iraq’s development . Kurdistan Region announces reach Arbil and Baghdad on a formula for the initial oil and gas law

Office announced the Kurdistan Regional Government, on Tuesday, that the consensus principle, happened between Arbil and Baghdad on a new formula to approve oil and gas law, indicating that the oil and gas committee is working to translate the consensus of the combination of the draft law and its proposal.
The head of government in a statement obtained by “Twilight News”, a copy of the “Committee for the oil and energy in the Iraqi Council of Representatives unveiled a preliminary consensus has recently been the province of Kurdistan and the federal government on a new formula to approve oil and gas law,” noting that “the Committee is working to translation compatibility with a combination of law and the draft proposal. ” (more…)
Kuwait seizes Iraqi boat, deports fishermen

4 January 2012 KUWAIT CITY – Kuwait has seized an Iraqi vessel in its territorial waters and deported six fishermen who had been on board, the official KUNA news agency cited a top official as saying on Wednesday.
Assistant undersecretary for border security affairs major-general Mohammad Yussef Al-Sabah said the Iraqi fishermen were arrested seven nautical miles into Kuwaiti territorial waters. He did not say when the incident took place.
The fishermen were later handed over to Iraqi authorities, he added. (more…)

The Financial; Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, and the International Monterey Fund (IMF), reached an agreement regarding controversial items in the draft law of 2012 budget.
Haitham al- Jobori member of the committee from the State of Law Coalition , in a press statement said that Parliament’s session today, January 03, will witness the first reading of the aforementioned draft law.
The committee reached a settlement over most objections by the International Monetary Fund about the budget., al- Jobori said

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, has expressed anxiety towards the current political tension in Iraq, calling on all parties in the country to “act together, in order to settle their differences peacefully andthrough constructive dialogue and presenting some concessions, along with the division of authorities and the independence of the Judiciary”.
The UN Secretary-General said, in a statement published on the UN’s Official Satellite position on Wednesday, that “continued differences are contributing to the increase in the security deterioration in Iraq, which has witnessed a series of explosions in the past period”. (more…)

In a report to the Security Council circulated late Tuesday, Ban expressed “appreciation to the Government of Iraq” for its maintenance of the mechanism for the transfer of the five per cent of oil proceeds, “and its continued cooperation with the Compensation Commission.” However, he added that “while all the indicators are positive and suggest that the Government of Iraq is compliant with its obligations, only after an audit has been conducted on the successor account to the Development Fund for Iraq will it be possible to confirm this conclusion.”
Ban said the Governing Council of the Geneva-based Compensation Commission has been “actively monitoring” the developments following the expiration of the mandate of the International Advisory and Monitoring Board (IAMB) for Iraq on June 30, 2011, and the transfer since then of the oversight, control, reporting, and use of Iraqi oil export revenues to the Iraqi Committee of Financial Experts (COFE.) COFE has appointed the US firm, Ernst Young, to conduct the 2011 audit of the Development Fund for Iraq and its successor account. (more…)
