KUWAIT: Several economists noted that the recent visit of Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri Al-Maliki, was of great importance as it provided a clearer vision and new methods to solve the lingering problems between the two States.
There were various beneficial outcomes from the meeting, especially in regard Kuwait Airways and its compensation of nearly $500 million through a direct $300 million payment, with the additional $200 million set to be turned into an investment in establishing a joint Kuwaiti-Iraqi air company as a joint venture. This solution has been on the table for years but was politically obstructed.
