UNSC Iraq/Kuwait High Level Coordinator Mandate Meeting scheduled for mid-June 2012

The following chart illustrates the United Nations Security Council Mandate Cycle on Iraqi issues.

The Iraq/Kuwait High Level Coordinator report discusses the relationship between Iraq and Kuwait as well as the accomplishments, efforts, recommendations and/or areas of concern regarding the outstanding issues between the two countries as directed by the United Nations.

The Iraq/Kuwait High Level Coordinator report is due every six months as mandated by the UNSC.  A meeting to discuss the report’s conclusions and recommendations is typically scheduled within a week of the report.  It would appear the USNC Iraq/Kuwait High-Level Coordinator mandate meeting is scheduled (tentatively) for June 15, 2012. Parliament to resume sessions Tuesday

Baghdad (AIN) –The Iraqi parliament will resume its sessions on Tuesday.

Parliamentary source stated to All Iraq News Agency (AIN) “The Parliament will hold its regular session on Tuesday which will include the first and second reading for many law drafts enlisted on its agenda.”

The parliament has lifted its sessions on last March 15th due to involvement of many officials in holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad on March 29th.

Fatlawi: There is a high-level diplomatic efforts by the government to remove Iraq from Chapter VII

Said an MP for the coalition of state law Hanan al that there is a high-level diplomatic efforts and good coordination by the Iraqi government to remove Iraq from Chapter VII.

He said Fatlawi told all of Iraq [where] the day, that “the coming days will witness pursuant to seriously to end the issue of debt owed by Iraq at the same level that the Government has worked by the success of the Baghdad summit,” indicating that “the issue of interest to all Iraqis, one of the most important goals that the government seeks to achieved after the success of the Arab summit. “ (more…)

MP Nassif calls on Kuwait to eneter dialogue with Iraq to solve the problems on border demarcation decision

MP called high Nassif Kuwait to resort to dialogue to resolve problems arising from the UN Security Council Resolution 833 on the demarcation of the border between the two countries.

She said in a press statement: “The decision of the Security Council unjust No. 833 on the demarcation of the border between Iraq and Kuwait, according to the so-called international norms punitive decision, especially as he forcibly imposed on Iraq without taking his advice.” (more…)

Erbil (AIN) –The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani has arrived on Sunday to Washington on an official visit.

The representative of the US Department of State and the Iraqi Ambassador to the US Jaber Habeb Jaber as well as the representative of Kurdistan Regional Government in America have received the President Barzani at the airport. (more…)
