KUWAIT: Kuwait has asked Iraq to issue passports to 42,000 Iraqis residing in Kuwait as stateless residents, head of the state’s Central Agency for Remedying Illegal Residents Issues announced recently. Speaking during a seminar held at a diwaniya in Yarmouk, Saleh Al-Fadhalah explained that during Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki’s visit to Kuwait, he was informed about “42,000 Iraqis living in Kuwait, claiming to be stateless.” Officials asked that they be “issued Iraqi passports to so that work permits can be issued. This is because Kuwait does not plan to deport them to Iraq.” (more…)

Most Iraqis would prefer to deal in dollars rather than local currency reflecting the lack of confidence in national currency by the citizens. Kuwait and Iraq have jointly asked the United Nations to start repairing border markers, delayed for years due to Iraqi objections, a senior Kuwaiti official said on Wednesday.
Kuwait’s permanent representative to the U.N. Mansoor al-Oteibi told the official KUNA news agency the request was made in a joint letter by him and his Iraqi counterpart, Hamed al-Bayati, on Tuesday.=

Baghdad (AIN) –The cousin of the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, was assassinated in western Baghdad on Wednesday.
Security source stated to AIN “Unidentified gunmen shot, Sabah Allawi, in front of his house in Harthiya area of western Baghdad,” without giving further details.
