Iraqi Planning is preparing to launch a new line of poverty in the country

Baghdad, June 14 (Rn) – The Iraqi Ministry of Planning, on Thursday, its willingness to launch a line of a new national poverty rate in Iraq beginning of the year 2013, noting that surveys the initial signal the presence of a significant decrease from the percentage that launched in 2009.

The head of the Central Bureau of Statistics and Deputy Minister Mahdi Keywords told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “the poverty rate in 2009 of 23 percent was based on a survey socio-economic families to Iraq,” adding that “this kind of surveys are not carried out annually and performs usually every four to five years. “

He explained that he Keywords “We started in 2012 for the implementation of the new round of this survey,” noting that “by 2013 we will launch a new national line of poverty and determine on this basis the proportion of new poverty.”

He added that “we reserve a number of other surveys near this survey there may be references to the lower poverty line so as to indicate that there is 18 percent of those below the poverty line at the end of this year’s figure will be announced and approved.”

And announced that the United Nations Mission in Iraq last November that the percentage of poverty in Iraq up to 23% confirmed they are working on creating job opportunities for young people in the oil and gas sectors and capacity building of government institutions to benefit from the experience.

The United Nations reports indicated that more than 7 million people were living below the poverty line in the country, while the survey indicates that the unemployment rate for males was 30.2% versus 16% for women.

According to a report on the results of a survey of employment and unemployment, the unemployment rate in urban areas 30% versus 25.4% in rural areas.
