20 June 2012 – The Security Council today urged the Governments of Iraq and Kuwait to step up their engagement with the United Nations envoy helping the two countries resolve issues pending from Iraq’s 1990 invasion, including finding Kuwaiti or third-country nationals.

“The members of the Security Council welcomed the continued cooperation of the Governments of Iraq and Kuwait, and their high-level commitments to full implementation of all Iraqi obligations to Kuwait under the relevant resolutions,” the Council said in a statement issued to the press following a closed-door meeting. BAGHDAD / Center Brief for the Iraqi Media Network – revealed the parliamentary finance committee that Iraq will see the two currencies traded at the same time over the next year 2013 of the new currency in circulation after deletion of zeros with the survival of the current currency trading throughout the year in question.

A member of the Finance Committee Hassan Salman’s (Center Brief for the Iraqi Media Network) that “the central bank operates in more than six months from now on the position of the deletion of zeros from the Iraqi currency and the current that will be applied starting from next year.”

UNSC extends financing of Tarasov’s mandate, urges Kuwait, Iraq to continue cooperation

Acting upon recommendation from Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Security Council on Wednesday decided to extend the financing of the High-level Coordinator on the issues of missing Kuwaitis and other nationals and property Gennady Tarasov’s mandate until the end of this year, and urged Kuwait and Iraq in the meantime to explore “other arrangements” to ensure continued cooperation, and to enable the council to consider “other modalities” to continue reporting on the issues.
