BAGHDAD July 17 (KUNA)– The Iraqi government has asked its transport minister to negotiate with the Kuwaiti side on a mechanism to pay compensations to Kuwait Airways for the damages to the latter’s planes during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
The (Iraqi) government has decided to entrust the minister of transport with negotiating with the Kuwaiti side on a mechanism to pay compensations to Kuwaiti Airways, ” Spokesman for the Iraqi Government Ali Al-Dabbagh said in a release.
Iraqi and Kuwaiti governments had reached a settlement on the dossier of Kuwaiti Airways, whereby Kuwait would scrap its legal claims against Iraqi Airways in return for compensation to its natural carrier.
