Iraq’s Ministry of Planning said that inflation in Iraq for the period from June 2011 to June 2012 has been running at a reported 5.8 percent.

This figure is down from the 6.2 percent reported in May, and the 6.7 percent in April.

26 July 2012 – The United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC), which settles the damage claims of those who suffered losses due to Iraq’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait, today made $1.3 billion available to six successful claimants.

The latest round of payments brings the total amount of compensation disbursed by the Commission to $37.7 billion for more than 1.5 million successful claims of individuals, corporations, Governments and international organizations, states a news release. (more…)

Erbil, July 27 (Rn) – accused the decision of the Committee on Finance and Investment in the Iraqi parliament, on Friday, the federal government not to apply the tariff system in the country in response to internal and external pressures.

According Mahma Khalil told the Kurdish news agency (Rn), “The Iraqi government continues to place obstacles in front of the application of tariff in the country, Tjajh reasons different every time,” adding that “the application of tariff would be a strong support for the economy of Iraq, which depends almost entirely on oil imports to the country. ” (more…)
