Since January 2012 we have seen major steps taken in Iraq. We have see steps to finalize the tariff law, steps toward WTO ascension, steps to end outstanding debts owed by Iraq, steps toward completing World Bank and IMF directives, steps to complete banking upgrades, steps to end Iraq-Kuwait issues, steps toward enacting the HCL law, and of course steps to complete currency reform (dropping zero’s / new currency) in Iraq.

Babinaoz – Agencies: approved by the Central Bureau of Statistics of the Ministry of Planning, the arrival of inflation base in Iraq to record levels, reaching 140.7 percent registered an increase of 5.9 compared to last year.
The newspaper said (life) of London that “saw annual inflation indicators, compared to last year, a clear rise of 5.9 percent, as a result of rising housing prices in different areas of Iraq at 10 percent, compounded by high housing rents by 13 percent.” (more…)

ERBIL, Aug.29 (AKnews)- Most of the political blocs at the Iraqi Council of Representatives have agreed that the 2007 oil and gas bill should become a basis for drafting the oil and gas law, said coordinator of oil and gas committee.
A committee assigned by the presidency of the Council of Representatives is due to choose one from the three proposed bills as the basis for the law. (more…)

Inflation for July was up 7% year-0n-year, according to the Central Statistics Department of the Planning Ministry.
Prices of some food and beverages, particularly fruits and vegetables, fell.
Houses prices were up by 10% nationwide, with rents up 13%.
In a separate report, ‘core inflation’, which strips out fuel prices, fell to 5.9% in July.
