ERBIL, August 5 (AKnews) – A parliamentary committee of experts, which holds the file to form a new electoral commission in Iraq, announced that it would present 15 candidates for the membership of the commission on Sunday.
Iraq’s House of Representatives last week voted in principle to amend the law on the electoral commission to increase the number of seats from nine to 15.
The period of extension granted by the House of Representatives to the current electrical commission ended on Saturday.
Committee spokesperson Muyad Taib said: “The committee had a meeting yesterday and will have a meeting today to present 15 candidates for the board of commissioners of the electoral commission membership.”
Taib explained that if the House of Representatives amended the commission law by 15 chairs instead of nine, it would mean that the experts committee had completed its tasks.
