ERBIL, August 6 (AKnews) – Iraq’s deputy minister of labor and social affairs announced that 16 percent of Iraqis are unemployed and the ministry has plans to reduce this number.
Dara Yara said the ministry has a plan to eliminate unemployment in the country by 2016.
“Sixteen percent of Iraqis are unemployed and this figure needs a strategic plan,” added Yara.
The official mentioned that there are 33 types of work vacancies in the plan to teach people how to work. These vacancies will be according to market demands in Iraq.
The spokesperson of Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs commented that Iraq’s plan does not cover the region because the region has its own plan.
Six percent of the Kurdistan Region’s residents are unemployed according to the region’s Ministry of Planning.
