UNITED NATIONS, Sept 29 (KUNA) Secretary General Ban Ki moon urged Khudier Alkhuzae, Vice President of the Republic of Iraq, during a meeting on Saturday, to “expedetiously” fulfil its obligations towards Kuwait if it wants to get out of Chapter VII, his press office said in a statement
The Secretary General urged Iraq to fulfil expeditiously its outstanding Chapter VII obligations pertaining to” Kuwait,” the statement said
It added that Ban reiterated to Alkhuzae the United Nations’ commitment to assist both countries to normalize their relations
Ban also thanked the Government of Iraq for its cooperation with the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) on the peaceful relocation of former Camp Ashraf residents, who are opponents to the Iranian regime, and reiterated the urgent need for Member States to offer resettlement opportunities to recognized refugees
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the General Assembly’s annual HighLevel debate.
