UNESCO prepared a study to discuss the reality of investment in the agricultural sector in the country and the possibility of achieving progress in cooperation with the FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture.

The project coordinator confirmed support agricultural employment and growth in Iraq and the Organization of UNESCO Nidal Kazem prepare Organization study to examine the reality of investment in the agricultural sector in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture. Parliamentary Agriculture: Iraq needs more than $ 20 billion for the advancement of agricultural incident

Announced the parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Iraq needs to over $ 20 billion dollars for the advancement of agricultural incident.

A member of the Committee Kazem Bahadli in a press statement that “deliberate neglect by the former regime for the agricultural sector led to desertification of many Ground, and helped on the migration of more than 80 percent of the farmers, so it is very difficult to play the current government to improve the sector during the period of time specific. ” (more…)

He pointed to: that the rate of imports of goods from abroad has increased to (60) billion dollars last year with a significant decline in industry and agriculture, this indicates that Iraq is a consumer and not productive, due to lack of an integrated plan for the economic development process . International reports: Rising food prices by 30%

Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development that the rise in food prices in the next decade by more than 30%, and that any further increase would have a disastrous impact on the world’s poor.

The Secretary-General of the Organization Anguilla Goeriaa that any further increases in food prices worldwide will have a disastrous impact on the world’s poor, and might lead to political turmoil and famine. The report of a joint FAO and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, that grain prices will rise by 20%, meat – do not especially for chicken meat – more than 30%, note that food prices are high now about 40% compared to last year’s prices.

Issued to Dr. Fadel Jawad surprised a book entitled “The implications for Iraq’s accession to the WTO on the future of the agricultural sector,” the book came with four chapters on the topics, “the WTO” and the liberalization of agricultural trade multiple parties to the first quarter in came the second quarter, carrying the title of “the reality and importance of the sector agriculture in Iraq, while the third chapter “of the agricultural sector in Iraq under the economic liberalization and the WTO agreements.”

Parliament is expected to rely on agriculture as well as oil in the budget

Baghdad (news) .. expect a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Water parliamentary MP Hadi al-Yasiri that are relying on agriculture and oil in the state budget during the next phase.

He Yasiri in a statement to the (agency news) today, that “the issue of farmers had been confiscated because of inaccurate information that link people to the farm concerned whether the ministries of agriculture, commerce, or water resources.”

Finance Committee’s 2011 budget meeting postponed until tomorrow

A member of the parliamentary Finance Committee said on Tuesday that the meeting scheduled for today to discuss the federal budget has been postponed until tomorrow because the minister of Agriculture was unable to attend.

The Finance Committee are planning to assess the monetary needs of the Agriculture ministry in order to allocate appropriate funds to ensure the development of the Iraqi agricultural sector.
