Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama Al-nujaifi said in an interview with the newspaper (the day), on the sidelines of the 19th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union in Kuwait, “the missing files and archive between Iraq and Kuwait have made significant progress and that the compensation and debt file will be resolved during the year.”

Al-nujaifi said in the newspaper interview published Friday, that “eject Iraq from Chapter VII requires a letter from Kuwait for the Security Council to take a positive about it,” go hard for both countries to normalize their relations and close all files, stressing that Kuwait’s intentions toward Iraq are good, especially after the fulfilment of his many commitments. ” (more…)

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq Ali insured that his country will not be an obstacle in the way of removing Iraq from Chapter VII.

The insurer said that all the items that hinder remove Iraq from Chapter VII ended with the exception of two topics and “remains and the Kuwaiti archives.” (more…)

The Government expects the Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit during the month of April, the Iraqi official said that the visit signed out Iraq from Chapter VII.

Said Fouad aldorki, a member of Parliament of the State of law coalition that Sheikh Jaber Kuwaiti Prime Minister is expected to visit the capital Baghdad during April next, to examine the output file from Chapter VII and Iraq sign an agreement to resolve. (more…)

A member of the parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee Imad John to remove Iraq from Chapter VII still needs time to solve two Aalqtin issues with Kuwait.

BAGHDAD (Iba) … watching Iraq visit of Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwaiti Prime Minister at the head of a high-level Kuwaiti delegation, in the next few days to discuss several issues, including the lifting of UN sanctions special item VII.

The most recent article titled “Iraq FM Zebari discusses Iraq and the future of CH VII sanctions: CBI might keep tired under Chapter VII for four more years” (Reference LINK) is quite lengthy and can be confusing. So I will do my best to provide some clarity and my personal opinion.

In the fourth paragraph, Zebari states that Iraq has been removed from majority of the Chapter VII provision. This is something we all have been aware of for quite sometime.

In the fifth paragraph Zebari elaborates what issues remain that keep Iraq binded to Chapter VII sanctions. He lists 1) Install land and maritime borders between Iraq and Kuwait, 2) Iraq is required to pay Kuwait 5% of oil revenues to Kuwait victims of the invasion, and 3) the discovery of missing Kuwait prisoners of war and Kuwaiti artifacts.

Due to the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, will pay an official visit to Iraq soon to discuss ways to develop relations between the two brotherly countries and out of Iraq from the provisions of Chapter VII.

Legal Counsel revealed in the Council of Ministers Mohamed Fadel, that “there is a planned visit by Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to the country to discuss bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, and the completion of talks on outstanding issues in a file Chapter VII.”

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has met with Mr. Martin Kobler, Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UNAMI) in Iraq.

During the meeting they discussed the mandate of the UN Mission in Iraq and its role in helping Iraq, and the role of the Mission to assist in the upcoming electoral processes. They also discussed the developments in the political situation and the country’s need for a mechanism to launch national dialogue to address the crisis. (more…)

Sabah: Kuwait is ready to remove Iraq from Chapter VII

Prime Minister of Kuwait Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, his government was ready to help Iraq out of Chapter VII, at the time it demanded that Baghdad formally move to Chapter VI of the Charter of the United Nations after fulfilling all its obligations.
