Expected Council Action
The funding for the activities of the High-level Coordinator who advises the Council on the Iraq-Kuwait missing persons and property issue, is due to expire in mid-June. The Council is expected to receive a report on the issue, pursuant to paragraph 14 ofresolution 1284, and a briefing in consultations by the coordinator, Gennady Tarasov. The Council is likely to issue a press statement on the coordinator’s activities and supporting the extension of the coordinator’s funding.

The Council is also expecting the second report of the Secretary-General, pursuant to paragraph 6 of resolution 1956, on the post-Development Fund for Iraq (DFI) mechanism. At press time it was not clear if the Council would consider the report in June.

The mandate of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) expires on 28 July.

BAGHDAD, May 8 (AKnews) – The money retained in the Development Fund of Iraq will cover the deficit in this year’s federal budget.

Alsumaria News / Baghdad denied the Iraqi Central Bank, on Wednesday, claimed responsibility for the loss of the $ 17 billion from the Development Fund of Iraq, which was created after the war in 2003, stressing that the Bank’s mandate in the management of the Fund was a formality in the era of U.S. civil administrator Bremer.

Baghdad (news) .. detect and Finance Minister Rafie al-Issawi government’s intention to open other accounts in banks in order to protect the new Iraqi funds abroad.

Issawi, said at a news conference after a meeting of the committee charged with preparing Alstrtejip financial years 2012, 2013 and 2014 under his chairmanship was attended by correspondent Agency (news) on Sunday afternoon: “The committee charged with preparing Alstrtejip financial years 2012, 2013 and 2014, which includes representatives from the ministries of finance and oil and the Central Bank and the World International and local governments, agreed on the interest of time technology to provide the financial budget for next year in order to avoid clashes that accompanied the previous budget.

Central: Iraq, follow the best plans to pay its debts as financial

Baghdad, March 6 (Rn) – The Central Bank of Iraq adviser, on Sunday, that Iraq follow the high-level political economic repayment of the debt as they have not faced legal problems.

He said the appearance of Mohammed Saleh told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “Iraq followed an economic policy is one of the best plans in the payment of debt and economic, as approved by the Paris Club as a political religion, economic applied well.”

On 12.15.2010 issued Security Council Resolution 1956, including the extension of the work of the Iraqi fund for development until the end of June 2011.

In the month of May 2010, Executive Decree American Special constantly immunity and protection of Iraqi funds from claims, demands to be held at the competent judicial and administrative U.S. until the month of May 2011 and this means that the protection of Iraqi funds from the claims and obligations of the financial system was the former arranged owed by the Iraqi government, whether debt or contractual obligations or obligations under the Conventions or compensation will be subject to protection until the month of May 2011 for the United States the U.S. so that the U.S. practice since the overthrow of Saddam in 2003 to take over the American President to issue a decree Excutive order which prevents the seizure, arrest or sentence on the money the Iraqi government for whatever reason has been issued this decree the time President George Bush in 2003 for one year and released in subsequent years and for a period of one year until the last decree issued President Obama in the month of May 2010 for a period of years ending in the month of May 2011.

Baghdad, Jan. 5 (AKnews) – A senior Finance Ministry official said on Wednesday that the Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari will head a governmental committee developing mechanisms to protect Iraqi funds deposited in foreign banks after the UN Security Council resolution in mid-November last year to withdraw its protection of those funds at the end of June.

Diya Khayyoun, the Undersecretary of the Finance Ministry told AKnews that the committee includes the Secretariats of the Council of Ministers and the Finance Ministry.

NEW YORK (Agencies): At the sign of normalization of relations with Iraq, will the UN Security Council on Wednesday, an end to the “oil for food” and the limitations imposed on the arms contained in resolutions dating back to the reign of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

And extend the UN Security Council the other hand, for a period of six months, the decision made by the Development Fund for Iraq, which was established in 2003 after the fall of Saddam Hussein.
