BAGHDAD (Iba) … Ministry of Transportation revealed that the agreement concluded by the government with its counterpart in Kuwait Amaralamadi on the debt Iraqi Airways has not written on paper so far.

The two sides announced their agreement to settle the debt back to the Gulf War prevented from Iraqi Airways flights to the west, and the agreement provides for payment of $ 300 million in cash to Kuwait and $ 200 million to set up a joint airline. (more…)

The Ministry of Finance on its potential and its ability to pay the amounts agreed to by the Government of Iraq with Kuwait, and special Iraqi Airways and $ 300 million in cash, at the time called on the government to expedite the formula to find the amounts to invest the remaining $ 200 million.

SECURITY COUNCIL ADOPTS RESOLUTION 2001 (2011), EXTENDING MANDATE OF UNITED NATIONS ASSISTANCE MISSION FOR IRAQ

Reaffirming the importance of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) in helping the Iraqi people and Government strengthen democratic institutions, advance inclusive political dialogue and national reconciliation and facilitate regional dialogue, the Security Council today decided to extend its mandate for 12 months.

Unanimously adopting resolution 2001 (2011), the 15-member body, also decided that the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq would, at the Government’s request, continue his mandate, as stipulated in resolution 1936 (2010).

Statement by the International Advisory and Monitoring Board of the Development
Fund for Iraq

The International Advisory and Monitoring Board (IAMB) of the Development Fund for Iraq
(DFI) met in Paris on April 27 and 28, 2011 and issued the following statement:

“The IAMB met to continue its oversight role over the use of resources of the DFI, which is
the principal repository for Iraq’s oil-export receipts, and oversee audits of the DFI in line
with its mandate under UN Security Council Resolutions.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on Iraqi leaders to complete the formation of their new Government as soon as possible so that it can press ahead with crucial tasks, including bolstering stability and addressing social and economic challenges.

In December 2010, Iraq’s leaders formed a “national partnership Government,” led by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, ending the nine-month political stalemate that followed elections held in March.

The UN in Iraq emphasizes that freedom of expression and assembly are fundamental rights of all people in a democratic state when conducted in a peaceful and law abiding manner. “We are encouraged by the engagement by the Council of Representatives and by the Government to seek dialogue with civil society aimed at addressing the grievances expressed by the Iraqi people, as well as by the unanimous support given by all Iraqi parties to improving the access of all Iraqis to basic services. Fundamental changes are needed for creating stability and trust” said Ad Melkert, the Special Representative of the Secretary General in Iraq.

The head of the House of Representatives on Saturday, that the Council will not tolerate the late submission of the final accounts of the public budget by the government and ministries in the coming years, especially since the budget needs to set new standards for construction, indicating that a delegation from the House of Representatives will visit Kuwait month next to discuss the issue of compensation.

Osama al-Najafi, told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “the final accounts and there is always delayed Assab behind it,” he said, adding that “the government made in this year, but late.”

And Najafi, “The House of Representatives will not be tolerated in the future with non-submission of accounts in the fact that the early adoption of the budget needs to be integrated with the final accounts audit reports to determine the exchange aspects of money.”
