UN Special Representative for Iraq Visits Kuwait

During an official visit to the State of Kuwait on 23 – 25 November, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Martin Kobler, was received by the Amir of the State of Kuwait, H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in the country’s capital, Kuwait City.

SRSG Kobler also met with the Prime Minister, Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Ambassador of Iraq in Kuwait, Mr. Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Ulum. He held fruitful meetings with a number of interlocutors, including the Speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly, Mr. Jassem Al-Kharafi, and the Deputy Chairman of the Kuwaiti Compensation Commission, Ms. Sabikah K. Najafi Al-Kharafi and agree to remove all types of distortion that marred the path of Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations

BAGHDAD (Iba) … Agreed president of the Iraqi Parliament Osama Abdul Aziz Najafi and the Kuwaiti National Assembly Jassem Al-Kharafi on the importance of sustaining the bilateral relations between the two neighbors and seek to develop them to ensure the interest of both peoples and the removal of all types of distortion that marred the course of this relationship and through their participation in the Conference of the Parliaments International in Berne, Switzerland.

Iraq, Kuwait speakers discuss bilateral ties

The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Osama al-Nujaifi , met with speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Jassem Al-Kharafi on the sidelines of the 5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada which is currently held in Tehran.

The two sides, at the meeting , discussed the bilateral ties between Iraq and Kuwait . They agreed to resort to constructive dialogue and understandings in solving any problem between the two countries especially the issue of Mubarak port construction .

Kuwait will not accept any damage to Iraqi interests, al- Kharafi said , emphasizing that his country will reduce the stages of Mubarak port to three and the last one will be completed after five decades.

National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi KUWAIT, Aug 1 (KUNA) — National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi reiterated Monday that Kuwait is keen on good neighborliness with Iraq.

“We seek distinguished relations based on respecting sovereignty of each country’s territories,” he told reporters commenting on the recent Iraqi escalating statements over the Kuwaiti Mubarak Al-Kaber port project.

Kuwait does not want any harm to Iraq interests or territories, Al-Kharafi added, stressing the importance of the role of the Kuwaiti-Iraqi Joint Committee in addressing any differences.

“We should think how to address problems through wisdom and farsighted moves and decisions in this difficult time which the region experiences,” he said.

Iraqi Vice President starts Kuwait visit

KUWAIT, May 2: Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdelmehdi arrived here on an official visit on Monday, accompanyied by a delegation of officials, during which he is to hold officials talks on bilateral relations and the situation in the region.

Kuwait Pledges to Persuade the Gulf States to Attend the Summit in Baghdad

While House Speaker warned Osama Nujaifi of cancellation or postponement of the Arab summit to be held in Baghdad next month, expect the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Amr Moussa to postpone the summit indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Kuwait has pledged to seek to persuade the Gulf states to participate in the summit of Baghdad.
Nujaifi said: At a press conference yesterday that «Iraq has created all necessary to convene the Arab summit and divert huge amounts of money», stressing that «the postponement of the summit Baghdad would harm relations of Iraq with the Arab countries, which demanded a delay, and these countries that the reduction in positions, especially as the contract This summit is important to us and to them ».

Said National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, Iraq, Kuwait transcended difficult circumstances, he said, adding that the visit of the delegation of Kuwait to the Iraqi parliament would provide an opportunity to resolve all outstanding issues.

The newspaper Arab Times published today, Sunday-Kharafi said, during a meeting yesterday, Iraqi parliament speaker Osama Nujaifi in Kuwait, “We confirm Kuwait’s keenness on all supports fraternal relations with Iraq, because linking the two brotherly countries of the historical ties”, noting that the two “were able to overcome the difficult conditions experienced this relationship thanks to the wisdom of His Highness the Amir and the Iraqi president.”

Leave today a parliamentary delegation headed by House Speaker Osama Najafi, heading to the State of Kuwait.

The sources said the reporter (Agency news) today said that the delegation includes a number of parliamentarians from the members of the Foreign Relations Committee, and the security and defense in addition to political analysts and the media.
