Prime Civil Aviation Authority of Kuwait Fawaz joy, Tuesday, that Iraqi Airways will resume during the weekend flights to Kuwait, after a lapse of 22 years.

The news agency quoted the Kuwaiti “KUNA” for joy, “The Iraqi Airways will resume flights to Kuwait on 16 February Current after the approval of the Civil Aviation Kuwait,” noting that “Iraqi Airways will run four flights a week, one of Baghdad and two through Najaf and fourth through Erbil. ” (more…)

local6 Positive developments in  Kuwait Iraq relations   Stage set for Maliki visitKUWAIT: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah announced yesterday that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki will visit Kuwait soon upon an invitation from His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

“We hope the visit would achieve the desired outcome and build on what was achieved in last year’s visit,” Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said in a seminar on the sideline of the first Kuwaiti-Iraqi Media Forum held here and attended by Information Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah.

He called for the continuation of the joint Kuwaiti-Iraqi meetings to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

KUWAIT: After four whole years since the terrorist blast that claimed hundreds of innocent lives at the Zanjeeli City, Nainawa in 2008, some Iraqi parliamentarians demanded that Kuwait must compensate the victims over accusations that two Kuwaitis were involved in plotting and executing the blast.

Speaking at a press release, the Iraqi MPs stressed that the two Kuwaitis had been just released from Guantanamo when the explosion took place. Three days later, the Pentagon said it was closing down Guantanamo which was a serious mistake as “it detained the world’s most dangerous criminals, including the ones responsible for the Zangeeli blast.”

The MPs added that the Iraqi parliament intends to get verified facts about the involvement of a Kuwaiti in the blast to sue him. They added that if the suspect was proven killed, the Kuwaiti government would have to compensate the families of the victims.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s foreign minister, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said that the Iraqi PM, Nouri Al-Maliki would visit Kuwait soon adding that Iraq had already fulfilled many of its obligations with regards to the border demarcation.

Al-Khaled also said that Kuwait would supply Iraq with developed detection equipment to be used in searching for the remains of Kuwaiti prisoners of war, Al-Dar reported.

Kuwaiti proposal to invest part of the compensation in Iraq

Khandan – said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah said his country is keen to develop what he called a road map to help Iraq to complete the implementation of Security Council resolutions, and pointed to Kuwait’s readiness to stand with Iraq and assist in the fulfillment of the requirements and international obligations a year ago 1991.

He called on the morning in an interview with Kuwait News Agency to continue a Joint Committee meetings between the two countries and noted that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will visit Kuwait soon to discuss bilateral issues and ways of enhancing joint cooperation in various fields, as in the areas of oil and maritime navigation. KUWAIT, Oct 4 (KUNA) — 1963 — Iraq recognizes Kuwait’s independence, sovereignty and borders as outlined in a letter by the Iraqi Prime Minister on July 21, 1932, which was accepted by Kuwait’s ruler Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber on August 10, 1932. Ambassadors were then exchanged. The agreement was registered by Kuwait at the Arab League and the United Nations.

KUWAIT, July 31 (KUNA) — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah underscored here on Sunday the importance of the third report of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the progress made towards fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) submitted to the Security Council at its meeting held on July 19.

Sheikh Mohammad told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the report reflects the concern of the UN towards Iraq’s implementation of its obligations stipulated by Security Council resolutions and show the failures of Iraq in this file, in addition to emphasizing the elements that enter into the interests of Kuwait and the position of the International Organization towards them.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Kuwaiti government confirmed today, Wednesday, continuing to implement a project called the port of Mubarak Al-Kabeer and that “any statements would not be intimidated,” expressing “surprise” of the Iraqi request to stop work on the project.

It quoted the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA on the government spokesman and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ali Al-Rashed confirmed the continuation of the State of Kuwait in the implementation of the port of Mubarak the Great, “I will not intimidate us any comments” on the back of a claim the Iraqi government to stop work at the port.

Melkert and Iraq’s ambassador to the UN describing the mutual visits between Baghdad and Kuwait a success and the positive

Said UN special envoy to Iraq, Ad Melkert Wednesday that mutual visits between Kuwait and Iraq bear the positive signals in the relations between the two countries.

Melkert pointed to Kuwait News Agency after a meeting with senior officials at the United Nations on the international mission to help Iraq (UNAMI), he sees a lot of positive signals.

Arbil, February 16 (AKnews) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, after arriving in Kuwait on Wednesday morning with the Emir of Kuwait Mbahathat in cases involving the two countries ..

Al-Maliki said in a statement the prime minister, which was received by the Kurdish news agency (AKnews) a copy of it that he “had arrived in Kuwait this morning at the head of a government delegation, to discuss a number of common issues between the two countries.”

An official in the province of Basra, that the Kuwaiti authorities handed over the Iraqi authorities, Tuesday, five Iraqi fishermen were detained by the Kuwaiti coast guard patrols, after the ship that attacked and sank two days ago, noting that four other fishermen were still missing.

NATIONS, Dec 14 (Saba) — Although the Security Council is scheduled to vote unanimously tomorrow Wednesday, under the Presidency of US Vice-President Joe Biden, to lift sanctions on Iraq, Baghdad will still have to abide by its obligations concerning the Iraq-Kuwait issues until they are resolved, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

The Council is set to vote on three resolutions Wednesday. The first would lift sanctions imposed on Iraq following its 1990 invasion of Kuwait, mainly on weapons imports, the second would close the files of the Oil-for-food Programme, and the third would extend the immunity for Iraq’s Development for Iraq (DFI) for six months.
