According to a police source in the province of Dhi Qar, Thursday, that the security forces seized a printing press for the Counterfeiting of currency and deposits of local currency counterfeit downtown Nasiriyah.

The source, who asked not to be named in a press statement that ‘the power of the police this morning raided a house in the neighborhood of Sumer downtown Nasiriyah and seized a printing press for counterfeit currency and nearly two million dinars from counterfeit currency and arrested the owner of the printing press’. Committee to meet again over oil and gas bill

ERBIL, Sept.7 (AKnews)-Next meeting over choosing one of the three oil and gas bills will be held next week, said coordinator for oil and gas committee at the Iraqi Council of Representatives.

The first oil and gas bill introduced in 2007 was suspended due to lack of political consensus. A second one has been proposed by the oil and gas committee and the third one by deputy prime minister for energy affairs, Hussein Shahrestani in 2011. (more…)

ERBIL, Aug.29 (AKnews)- Most of the political blocs at the Iraqi Council of Representatives have agreed that the 2007 oil and gas bill should become a basis for drafting the oil and gas law, said coordinator of oil and gas committee.

A committee assigned by the presidency of the Council of Representatives is due to choose one from the three proposed bills as the basis for the law. (more…)

CBI seeks to reduce the monetary circulation of the currency and replace it with credit card

Said the Iraqi Central Bank seeks to reduce the use of cash in the country, because of geography and the challenge of security issues that make the transfer of money within the country is difficult and risky.

The bank said in a statement today, “going efforts to automate the processes of settlement of checks and payroll systems, and activate the automation of electronic card, to keep more cash in bank accounts.” (more…)
