BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has presented the names of 8 candidates for the Defense Minister’s post to President Jalal Talabani and not to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, due to the mistrust between al-Iraqiya and the State of Law Coalition’s leaders Allawi and Maliki, al-Iraqiya Member, Talal al-Zuba’e said on Thursday.

The Legislature of the National Coalition, Asma’a al-Moussawi, told Aswat al-Iraq earlier that al-Iraqiya Coalition had presented its 8 candidates for the Defense Minister’s post to the President, but the State of Law Coalition had opposed the measure, demanding the names to be presented to the Prime Minister.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The spokeswoman for al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by Iyad Allawi, has said on Tuesday that the appointment of Culture Minister, Saadoun al-Dulaimy, as Acting Minister of Defense is a “circumvention” on the Agreements among leaders of the Political Blocs, apart from being “an individuality of power.”

“The assignment of Saadoun al-Dulaimy to occupy the post of Acting Defense Minister is a “circumvention” on the agreements among the Leaders of the Political Forces, reached in a recent meeting among them at the residence of the Iraqi President,” Maysoun al-Damaloujy told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Iraqi media sources reported on Wednesday that the local Kurdish political source has revealed that the National Alliance and the Iraqi List, agreed on six candidates for the key posts of interior and defense.

The source is cited as “The National Alliance agreed to submit three candidates for the post of Minister of the Interior are the commander of the Middle Euphrates Gen. Othman Ghanimi and federal police chief, Maj. Gen. Hussein Awadi, and a third candidate, General military appearance of the Lord.”

She added that “the Iraqi List, agreed on three candidates for the post of Minister of Defense were Major General in the Army current Medhat al-Obeidi and Brigadier General Hamid Dawoud al-Obeidi and General Staff retired Loay Naji Tbakjla,” noting that “the National Coalition and Iraqi forward the names of the Kurdistan Alliance for consultation prior to submission to Speaker for presentation to the House of Representatives to vote on the names of the six names to fill two bags.

A source reveals the names of candidates for the defense and interior provided by the coalition and the Iraqi Kurds

Revealed the source of a Kurdish politician, on Wednesday, the National Alliance and the Iraqi List, agreed on six candidates for the key posts of interior and defense, while pointing out that the names of the six presented to the Kurdistan Alliance in order to see them before going to the Presidency of the Council of Representatives and then presented for a vote in Council.

Baghdad,  (AKnews) – The Kurdistan Blocs Coalition (KBC) will back Ayad Allawi’s bid for the presidency of the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP) in line with the power-sharing deal signed in Erbil last year, says the bloc’s spokesman.

Muayyid Tayyeb said that the Kurds will vote in parliament for Allawi to head the council, at the same time condemning calls from the National Coalition, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, not to vote for the al-Iraqiya leader.

“The calls not to vote for Allawi will increase the crisis between al-Iraqiya and the SLC,” he said, “…all the political blocs agree with each other apart from the SLC and al-Iraqiya.”

Baghdad The Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iraq dismissed today accusations that his country has extracted more than its share of oil from bordering oil fields, counter-accusing those behind the claims of attempting to stir up ill-feeling between the neighboring states.

Ambassador Ali Mo’men told AKnews that Kuwait is making every effort to normalize relations with Iraq on the basis of territorial sovereignty and urged both sides to focus on improving ties through dialogue rather than throwing around ‘frictious’ accusations.

iyad allawiBaghdad, May 31 (AKnews) – Al-Iraqiya, led by former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, will hold a “crucial” meeting today to determine its position following last night’s “disappointing” meeting with the ruling National Coalition (NC), said a deputy from the list.

The two blocs met yesterday in a bid to resolve the current crisis over the allocation of Iraq’s three security ministries and the formation of the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP) by returning to the power-sharing agreements signed between the political blocs in Erbil prior to the formation of the current government in December.

Al-Iraqiya’s Ziad al-Thareb told AKnews that the leaders of the al-Iraqiya list will meet to assess the results of the negotiating committees after yesterday’s meeting and set a time limit for the NC to submit a concrete proposal.

The Legislature of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Zuheir al-Aaraji, has announced on Sunday that a number of leading politicians, including President Jalal Talabani, Kurdistan President Masoud Barzani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and al-Iraqiya Leader Iyad Allawi, “shall interfere soon to settle the current crisis about the formation of the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP) and the security cabinet posts.”

“Al-Iraqiya Coalition does not serve narrow-party interests, but strives to serve the general interest of the Iraqi people,” Aaraji told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, adding that “the forthcoming few days shall witness the personal interference by Talabani, Barzani, Allawi and Maliki, to settle the crisis of the NCSP and the security cabinet posts.”

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Legislature of the National Coalition, Amir al-Kinany, has said on Wednesday that his Coalition, and al-Iraqiya and the Kurdistan Coalitions, have reached an agreement to settle all suspended problems among them, stressing that the agreement had been achived in a recent meeting of representatives of the three Coalitions at the residence of Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister, Roz Nouri Shawes.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, on Wednesday renewed support for his candidate for the Defense Minister’s post, Saadoun al-Dulaimy, based on his experience in the military affairs.

“The Defense Minister’s post candidate, Saadoun al-Dulaimy, enjoys support by the National Coalition and the Kurdistan Coalition, because he has an experience in the military field,” Maliliki told a news conference, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The Defense Minister’s post is the right of the Sunni component and the Interior Minister’s post is the right of the Shiite component,” he said, adding that “the said right was transferred from the Sunni component to al-Iraqiya List, whilst it was transferred to the compromise front and then to the person of the leader of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Iyad Allawi.”

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, has decided to take a decisive attitude towards the candidates for the security cabinet posts later in the day, its Legislature, Othman al-Juheishy said, expressing possibility for its withdrawal from the government in the event of Prime Minister Maliki’s imposition of his own candidates for the posts.

“Al-Iraqiya Coalition shall meet at 07:00 pm local time on Tuesday, with the presence of all its leaders, under chairmanship of Iyad Allawi, and members of the Coalition, to take a decisive position to settle the issue of the security cabinet posts, as well as the discussion of the recent developments on the political arena,” Juheishy told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

A source reveals that the Kurdistan Alliance has decided to vote on the candidates, al-Maliki’s security ministries

Revealed a parliamentary source in the Kurdistan Alliance, Tuesday, that the alliance decided to vote on the candidates the security ministries, who presented their names Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, as he emphasized that the alliance decided to vote on the law of independent bodies one basket.

Erbil, April 29 (AKnews)- A leader from the major Iraqi parliamentary bloc, al-Iraqiya, said Thursday his bloc expects the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to settle the dispute over the allocation of security ministries in one week or it will take back confidence from him.

Ziyad Zarb Zubayee told AKnews the situation in Iraq cannot further withstand a government running without security ministers.

Erbil, April 26 (AKnews) – The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has promised to dissolve the government and stage early elections if his cabinet fails to improve its performance by the end of the 100-day deadline he had given issued the ministers in February.

Maliki said in a press conference aired live on the semi-official al-Iraqiya TV channel that he was not satisfied with the current government line-up which he described as “lean”.

On February 27, Maliki gave his cabinet a 100-day ultimatum to “shape up or face the consequences”.

Baghdad, April 23 (Rn) - A member of the Iraqi List led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi on Saturday, all the political blocs to reach a semi-understandings on the candidates positions security, noting that no final decision has not yet issued by the list.

The buxom Daini told the Kurdish news agency (Rn), said that “there is almost an understanding between the political blocs on the candidates and the defense and interior ministries,” indicating that “these understandings have not lived up to the level of the final agreement.”

Erbil, April 22 (AKnews)- The head of the Kurdistan Bloc Coalition (KBC) said Thursday the head of al-Iraqiya bloc is currently in Kurdistan Region capital, Erbil, for talks with Massoud Barzani over the suspended posts of the new Iraqi cabinet.

Barzani, the Kurdistan Region President Massoud was well reputed for reconciling all the Iraqi parties and convincing them in Erbil thorough a pact of power-share to gather for the election of the new cabinet nine months after the inclusive elections in the country March 2010.

Baghdad, April 16 (AKnews) – An MP from the National Coalition (NC)’s State of Law Coalition (SLC) said on Saturday that the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will submit the names of the candidates for the as yet unassigned security ministries in the coming week.

Abbas al-Bayati told AKnews that the NC has authorized Mailiki to announce the nominees for the disputed posts despite ongoing disagreements between the political blocs.

The news comes just days after the SLC pointed an accusatory finger at the al-Iraqiya List for stalling the selection process by failing to agree on their own candidates for the posts.

Baghdad, April 2 (AKnews) – The al-Iraqiya list is expected to hold an urgent meeting Saturday to resolve the issue of a candidate the list is entitled to name to the prime minister to hold the position of minister of defense.

Al-Iraqiya’s meeting follows an apparent concord among the political blocs on candidates already put forward by the PM to the parliament or the positions of the minister of the interior and planning.

The issue of unassigned cabinet ministries has continued for three months after the new Iraqi cabinet was sworn in incompletely in December 2010 over disputes among the political lists over the candidates put forward for three key ministries of the interior, defense and national security.

Political blocs agree on Interior and Planning portfolios candidates, MP

Baghdad, April 2 (AKnews) – The political blocs in the Iraqi parliament have finally agreed on candidates for two key government positions, the ministries of the interior and planning, after months of disputes.

The new Iraqi cabinet was sworn in December incompletely due to disputes over the security-related ministries. According to the political agreements, the Iraqiya list had the right to hold the Defense Ministry, while the National Coalition (NC) led by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will hold the Ministries of the Interior and National Security.

BAGHDAD – The Feed – The National Alliance, Khaled al-Asadi said the choice of candidates for security ministries do not share a specific block, whether of the National Coalition or Iraqi List because Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is the only one responsible for naming Minister security only.
