Erbil, August 31 / August (Rn) – A spokesman for the Iraqi Oil Ministry, said that according to the expectations of a number of oil companies, the Iraq’s oil reserves total about 142 billion barrels, adding that Iraq is one of the fastest countries in the world in the development of the oil sector.

He said Assem Jihad told the Kurdish news agency (Rn), “according to expectations of a number of major oil companies, Iraq has reserves estimated at 142 billion barrels of oil, not extracted after a delay due to the oil sector investment during the previous years.”

The European Commission said on Friday that Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger, the European Union signed an agreement with Iraq to work together to develop Iraq’s energy resources, including gas exports to Europe.

The Commission said in a statement: “Iraq committed itself to supply gas in the long term the European Union through the southern corridor, while the European Commission provide him with free access to their markets.”

Baghdad, 11 May (Rn) – The Iraqi Oil Ministry Wednesday for a project “long term” free gas for export to countries in the world, noting that the project of exporting the gas reservoirs require the identification of free gas and not to rely on associated gas.

He said Undersecretary Ahmed Chandler Kurdistan News Agency (Rn) that “free gas can not be stored. The ministry is considering a project to export in the long term, the fact that the process of transferring gas is not easy.”

He explained that “gas production is currently associated with the extraction of crude oil is not sufficient for daily requirements. But during the next phase of Iraq to reach self-sufficiency.”

Baghdad, 22 March (Rn) – The Iraqi Oil Minister Abdul-Karim Allaibi Tuesday, for the preparation of a plan for the work of his ministry during the next four years aiming to raise the country’s production of crude oil to 6.5 million barrels per day by the year 2014, revealing at the same time for launch Tour special permits extraction of natural gas end of the year.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Oil Ministry announced on Tuesday its four-year plan (2011-2014) to produce oil and gas and sent it to the Council of Ministers before submitting it to the parliament.

Iraq plans to auction 12 exploration blocks, believed to contain mostly gas reserves, in November as part of the country’s efforts to capture natural gas for electricity generation, the country’s oil minister said Tuesday.
