The Oil Ministry announced on Tuesday that Iraq’s oil production will reach sixty billion barrels in 20 years, while confirming that the expedition patches that were presented in the fourth round of licenses contain fifteen trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
The Minister of Oil Abdul Karim Laibi told ‘Sumerian News’, the ‘domestic production of oil during the next twenty years will reach sixty million barrels revenues estimated at five trillion dollars at the rate of $ 85 per barrel.’ (more…)

BAGHDAD: Iraq’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth should rise to nine per cent in 2012 from around 6pc currently, mainly driven by an expected increase in oil production and exports, a senior central bank official said yesterday.
Iraq has some of the world’s largest oil reserves and is currently producing about 2.9 million bpd. High oil prices have helped the country earn billions of dollars more than projected this year.
“It will easily jump to 9pc next year, it will not be difficult. If production and exports in the oil sector rise, it is possible to reach that figure,” Iraqi Central Bank deputy governor Mudher Kasim said. (more…)

Baghdad, Oct. 9 (AKnews) – Several high-ranking Iraqi oil experts got involved in the current dispute over the distribution of the country’s oil revenues and criticized what they called the “marginalization of the provinces”.
The recent oil law and attempts by the federal government to be the sole distributor of the oil wealth were against the constitution, the experts said.

A member of the Commission on oil and energy parliamentary Furat al-Shara, said his committee decided to postpone the adoption of the law of the national oil company until the adoption of the law of oil and gas.

Many of the world’s biggest energy companies may have to surrender most of the gas from Iraq’s vast southern oilfields to a processing and export project led by Shell, a final draft contract between Baghdad and Europe’s biggest company, obtained by Reuters, shows.
Oil giants including Royal Dutch Shell, BP, U.S.-based Exxon, China’s CNPC, and Italy’s Eni signed technical service contracts to develop three oilfields in southern Iraq in 2009-2010.
But the oil deals to develop the Zubair, Rumaila and West Qurna 1 fields near Basra oblige the big oil contractors to surrender the gas they do not use for reinjection or power generation to Iraq’s state-run South Gas Co (SGC).
