Council of Ministers announced on Monday, raising the federal budget for Iraq for the next year 2013 to the House of Representatives for approval, pointing out at the same time they reach 138 trillion Iraqi dinars.

Said the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Ali Mohsen Ismail in a statement issued today, and received “Alsumaria News” a copy of it, that “the Council of Ministers raised the federal budget for Iraq for the next year to the House of Representatives as the final approval.” (more…)

After five years in the making, Iraq’s parliament could have a first reading of a landmark oil law by early February, a senior Iraqi energy official said on Monday.

Adnan al-Janabi, head of Iraq’s oil and energy committee, said he “hoped for some movement next month” on the legislation that is crucial to resolving a bitter feud between Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region over oil rights.

Janabi’s committee has been poring over two versions of text that address the core disagreements between Baghdad and Arbil: the role of the governorates, the composition of the federal council, the ability of the regions and governorates to sign contracts and the issue of previously signed contracts. The Iraqi Parliament has decided on Sunday to postpone its session to Jan. 17th, due to the non-completion of the legal majority for today’s session, a Parliament’s media source announced today.

“The Parliament’s Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, has decided to postpone the Parliament’s session today to the 17th of January, due to the non-completion of the legal majority of today’s session, attended by 140 out of the Parliament’s 325 Members,” the media source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. BAGHDAD, Aug. 29 (UPI) — Iraqi leaders need to approve the draft oil and gas law because oil wealth is the “only source” available to rebuild the country, a Shiite lawmaker said.

The Iraqi Cabinet during the weekend approved a draft oil and natural gas law and passed it on to Parliament for endorsement. The agreement would trump existing laws governing the country’s oil and gas, a government spokesman said.

The State of Law bloc reveals the three conditions that do not meet the global targets of the National Council

A member of the National Alliance Abbas al-Bayati said that his alliance with the three conditions for the development of the National Council for the strategic policies.

Al-Bayati stressed in a press statement that 90% of the Erbil Convention carried out and the remaining 10% of them are technical issues to logistical placed in the mini-committees of the approval and implementation. He added that the National Alliance OK to revive the first three conditions but that does not confiscate the powers of the constitutional institutions and the second is not to be above the councils and other institutions, the latter is that his powers are indicative and not a legal or constitutional.

Baghdad (NINA) – The Energy Committee, headed by Deputy Prime Miister, Hussein al-Shehristani, approved the amendment endorsed on the draft Oil and Gas Law prepared by the Ministry of Oil.

A statement issued on Wednesday, July 13, by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office said, “The meeting was attended by ministers of Oil, Electricity, Science and Technology, Water Resources and Provinces’ Affairs.

It added that, “The Amendments have been referred to the Council of Ministers.”

One billion dollars for the construction of a new Iraqi parliamentarians

House of Representatives announced the allocation of a plot of land with an area of 100 dunums in Al-Muthanna airport site for the establishment of a new building of the Council of one billion dollars.

The adviser said the President of the Council for Foreign Affairs, Amjad Abdul Hameed at a special statement (the statement) that the area of a piece of land of 100 acres at the site of an inclusive Grand to benefit from the construction on the site, noting that the House occupies a building at the Conference Palace, a custom basis for holding conferences, and not for meetings of Parliament.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki has said on Wednesday that “he won’t resent to dismantle the government, proposed new elections and present his resignation, in the event that the current government continues to face attacks by the Parliament, which is supposed to help the ministries to succeed, not to fight them.”

“Being part of my authority as Prime Minister to demand the resignation of a Governor, in the event that he is proven negligent, to present a demand to dismantle the Parliament or the government, carry out new elections and present my resignation, if the Parliament insists to continue fighting the current government, whilst the Parliament should strive to help ministries succeed, not to fight them,” he said.
