UN chief calls Amir on Kuwait­Iraq border deal

KUWAIT, June 12 (KUNA) ­­ His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al­Ahmad Al­Jaber Al­Sabah on Wednesday evening received a call from UN Secretary­General Ban Ki­moon on two Kuwaiti and Iraqi messages sent to the latter on both countries’ agreement on the formation of a bilateral technical committee to undertake the joint border mark maintenance in the future in line with UN Security Council Resolution 833. Baghdad (AIN) –The parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, discussed in a phone call with the US Vice-President, Joseph Biden, the political crisis in Iraq and the region.

A statement by Nijaifi’s office received by AIN cited “Nijaifi received a phone call from the Biden where they discussed the political situation and the crisis in Iraq,” noting that “Biden showed concern over the disturbed security situation in Iraq and Syria stressing the necessity of having an Iraqi settlement to the current crisis.”

Kuwait, Dec 17th, 2012 (WAM) — Kuwait is ready to help Iraq address the issue of remains of Kuwaiti prisoners and Kuwaiti properties to quickly close this file, a senior government official said.

“Kuwait has been flexible in helping Iraq exit from Chapter VII (of the UN Charter) and is ready to offer assistance for the Iraqi side to finalize the issue of remains of Kuwaiti prisoners and Kuwaiti properties to speed up the closure of this file,” Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah of Kuwait was quoted by “KUNA” as telling reporters on the sidelines of a reception hosted by Bahrain Embassy on occasion of the Gulf Kingdom’s 41st Independence Day. Baghdad (AIN) — Kuwait Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said on Monday his just-concluded visit to Iraq was “an important step” that would serve bilateral relations and region as a whole.

Sheikh Sabah, also Minister of state for Cabinet Affairs, said he signed, last night, the minute of the Kuwait-Iraq commission meeting which paved way for ironing out outstanding issues. In an open discussion at the conclusion of the 9th Arab Media Forum, Sheikh Sabah said there was a clear understanding between Kuwait and Iraq over all issues discussed during the commission’s meetings. ERBIl, April 21 (AKnews) – A Kuwaiti delegation headed by Minister of Diwan al-Amiri (Princely Council) Affairs Sheikh Nasser Subah al-Ahmad al-Subah today discussed with the president of the Kurdistan parliament ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Kuwait and the region.

KUWAIT, Jan 31 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Minister of Finance and Minister of Health Mustafa Al-Shimali said Tuesday the oil-rich Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries were badly affected by the global financial crisis due to their interrelations with the oil-importing Western countries.

KUWAIT, Dec 26 (KUNA) — Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah held telephone talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki on Monday.

During the phone call, both sides discussed brotherly relations and exchanged views on issues of common interests.

Sheikh Jaber renewed an invitation for the Iraqi Prime Minister to visit Kuwait, to be scheduled at a later time, via diplomatic channels.
