Baghdad (NINA) – Leader of Iraqiya slate, Iyad Allawi, said that the situation in Iraq is going through dangerous period that requires implementing the Erbil Agreement.

In his speech announcing the slate of United Iraqiya National Alliance, Allawi said that the campaigns of intimidation and exclusion are continuing in Iraq, since many Iraqi political forces (he did not name) are subjected to insemination and exclusion and been denied to express their opinion in many forums.

Allawi added that it is clear evidence that who runs Iraq is running it in an insufficient way.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Four of the most senior political leaders in Iraq’s fragile coalition have threatened to bring a vote of no confidence in the government unless “autocratic decision-making” stops, a letter published in a state newspaper on Saturday said.

Iraq’s Shi’ite, Sunni and Kurd coalition began to creak in December, after U.S. troops left, when the government tried to remove Sunni Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq and issued an arrest warrant for Sunni Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi.

BAGHDAD – Under increased US pressure, an Iraqi crackdown on Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias has helped produce a previously elusive goal: For the first time since the US invasion of Iraq, an entire month has passed without a single US service member dying.

The milestone is particularly remarkable because it comes after 14 troops were killed in July, making it the most deadly month for the Americans in three years; and it has occurred amid a frightening campaign of suicide bombings and assassinations from Sunni insurgents that killed hundreds of Iraqis, resurrecting the specter of the worst days of sectarian fighting.

Parliament currently lists 79 bills registered for consideration with a committee but not yet voted on, 68 which have been through the first reading in parliament , but only 32 which have been through the second . A bill must pass through three “readings” to become law. Some key bills which are on the latter list – those presumably close to becoming law – are listed below.

But note that a disproportionate amount of bills which are not generally considered high-priority have progressed while others have not (i.e. the law on official holidays is through the second reading but the oil law is still in committee).

The Iraqi government confirmed on Wednesday that it will not waive the coming Arab summit in Baghdad, and left later identified to the Arab consensus, indicating that Iraq has the full right to host the summit in one of the undisputed.

The Minister of State, the government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said in an interview for “Alsumaria News”, “The Iraqi government reserves its full right to hold the next Arab summit in Baghdad,” noting that “Iraq does not accept to be held in any other place.”

BAGHDAD — One year after landmark polls, a political impasse in Iraq remains, with several key cabinet posts unfilled and analysts warning bad habits are setting in to the country’s nascent democracy.

The March 7, 2010 election, which saw 62.4 percent of Iraqis turn out to vote despite violence, was hailed as free and fair by international observers, and was seen as a key marking point ahead of the pullout of US forces at the end of the year.

The head of Iraq’s central bank said on Tuesday he was not worried the bank’s independence may be compromised by a court ruling placing it under the cabinet, despite having warned Iraq’s overseas assets could be at risk.

The Iraqi supreme court last month ruled that several ostensibly independent institutions, including the central bank, the anti-corruption watchdog and the electoral agency, should be supervised by the cabinet, and not by parliament.
