Baghdad (newsletter).The Director of the Office of the United Nations Development Programme Iraq Peter Batchelor, the lack of security and political stability behind the country’s development stalled.

Batchelor said in an interview with (News Agency): that the United Nations had made progress during the past 10 years in achieving development goals especially in Iraq, he said: we believe that without the stability of the political and security situation development evolution can never get in Iraq. BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Let the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq and United Nations Development Programme, Wednesday, a media campaign in Baghdad to raise awareness about the judicial system in Iraq, under the umbrella of the United Nations Development Programme “Support to the rule of law and justice in Iraq,” which is funded by the European Union, According to a statement of the UNAMI (UNAMI).

The statement has been received by the agency (Voices of Iraq) a copy of it today the media spokesman in the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Abdul Sattar Bayraktar that “This campaign is aimed primarily at marginalized such as the poor, the weak and illiterate, victims of violence to introduce them to the judicial system in Iraq and emphasized that he was able to achieve justice transparent and to help them resolve their differences by going to the courts. ” (more…)

Baghdad, November 17 (Rn) – The Office of the United Nations Mission in Iraq, “UNAMI”, Thursday, for the senior official level in the United Nations Development Programme ended the day visit to Baghdad, where the announced strengthening the presence of the program in Iraq and assured the Iraqi people to renew commitment through enhanced partnership and cooperation.

Baghdad, November 16 (Rn) – The United Nations Mission in Iraq on Wednesday, the poverty rate in Iraq of up to 23% confirmed they are working on creating job opportunities for young people in the oil and gas and building the capacity of government institutions to benefit from the experience.

The Country Director of UNDP in Iraq Pietro Ptchelor during a press conference at United Nations Headquarters in Baghdad that “the proportion of poverty in Iraq, according to numbers registered with the United Nations up to 23%,” indicating that “the United Nations is working to create jobs for citizens in oil and gas. ” (more…)

The manager of the UN Development Program in Iraq Wednesday, the Iraqi government has allocated $ 250 million to fund joint projects in 2012, indicating that the program will focus on fighting poverty and creating new jobs and public sector reform.

said Peter Batchelor during a press conference held in Baghdad said that “Iraqi government allocated $ 250 million for 2012 from the balance of the budget,” adding that “the aim is to use the money to do joint projects between the government and the United Nations and other international partners.”

He said Batchelor said it “is unique because most governments expect to Funding is from the United Nations or the World Bank. ” and will spend the UN Development Program about a hundred million dollars of his own money in Iraq next year. (more…)

Iraq is now a member of the world’s largest corporate responsibility pact, the UN Global Pact.

Signatories to the agreement include 135 countries, more than 6,000 companies, and about 3,000 non-governmental organisations from around the world.

“Iraq’s membership in the agreement will give it the chance to verify the credibility, transparency, and track record of the companies that are signatories to the pact, based on grounds and criteria that are transparent and accepted locally and internationally,” secretary-general of the Iraqi cabinet Ali al-Allaq said at a press conference Saturday (October 15th). Baghdad (news) .. live the House of Representatives on Thursday to celebrate the occasion of International Day of Democracy.

A statement of the Council received the Agency (news) copy of the “celebration held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Council and in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme and under the banner of the House of Representatives and the citizen.”

The statement added that “Ahtphalbh tomorrow will be the presence of the Council of Representatives and the participation of a number of ministries and government institutions as well as civil society organizations.”

Iraq is seeking to join the initiative of Transparency International

The EITI logoIraq prepares to join the initiative of transparency in extractive industries, where it has now the membership of a candidate for permanent membership. According to the terms of this initiative, Iraq will have to issue an annual report showing the amount of money proceeds from the sale of oil to international companies, with a demand that the government provide proof of receipt of these proceeds.

The deputy head of the Secretariat of the International Transparency Initiative by Rich that the objective of the Transparency Initiative is to activate the participation of citizens in the management and disbursement of funds realized from the sale of oil, pointing out that Iraq has committed himself to the terms of the initiative, and therefore he must issue a final report in October next shows the size of those funds.
