BAGHDAD, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki’s media adviser confirmed Wednesday that the Chairman of U. S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey paid a quick visit to Baghdad on Tuesday and had “positive” meetings with Iraqi officials.

Ali al-Musawi, the adviser, told reporters in Baghdad that Dempsey paid a six-hour visit to Baghdad a day before and met a few Iraqi top officials, including Maliki. (more…)

Iraqi government announced, Wednesday, that the relations of friendship and partnership was established with the United States of America, after the withdrawal of its troops from Iraq, noting that the military had a negative impact on the development of relations.

A media adviser to Prime Minister Ali al-Musawi’s “Twilight News”, “now established partnership relations and friendship at all levels, industrial, commercial, technological, and economic, in addition to the areas of education and study,” adding that the Iraqi-US relations have become “better” after the withdrawal of U.S. forces at the end of 2011. BAGHDAD, Feb.10 (AKnews)- Funding the Sahwa Councils’ members from the national budget is “legal” due to the “significant” role the Councils played in securing the country, an official said today.

Amer Khuzayee, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s advisor for national reconciliation affairs, told AKnews that funding the Sahwa (Awakening Councils or Forces) from 2012 budget does not contradict with the Iraqi Constitution. (more…)

The Iraqi Embassy in Washington DC dealt with nearly 5,000 applications from American companies hoping to do business in Iraq last year, a 70% jump from 2010, according to an article from Chicago Business.

Among the companies mentioned are the Schaumburg, Illinois-based manufacturer Quality Float Works Inc., which mades devices to control liquid flows in machinery. (more…)

 

BAGHDAD – AFP: the numbers of Iraqis who were killed in the violence, a significant decrease during the month of December compared to November, as was the whole of 2011 compared with 2010, according to official figures published on Saturday night.

In total, 155 Iraqis were killed 90 civilians and 36 policemen and 29 soldiers in attacks in December, according to figures from the Ministries of Interior, Health and Defence. These monthly revenues are among the lowest since the U.S. invasion of Iraq in March 2003. (more…)

ON DECEMBER 18th America withdrew from Iraq, as the last convoy headed south into Kuwait, where around 4,000 of its troops will remain for an undisclosed length of time. An optimistic Iraqi government had recently begun to remove some of the capital’s checkpoints and blast-walls, easing traffic and boosting morale.

But the better mood did not last long. On December 22nd at least a dozen car bombs exploded within two hours of each other in Baghdad, killing more than 60 people and injuring another 200—one of the highest death tolls of the year. With security as patchy as ever and politics entering a new phase of sectarian hatred, few Iraqis now think the American withdrawal heralds a joyful new era. Some even wonder whether, without a ring-holding American military presence, the country will even stay together.

Baghdad – and babysit – The Mission of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO that it “will hold tomorrow, the closing ceremony of the training mission after the work lasted about seven years.”

Najaf, 8 December / December (Rn) – A spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Defense on Thursday that 7,500 U.S. last remaining troops and withdraw during the next few days.

And U.S. troops ended combat missions in the last year and began to withdraw its troops from Iraq, according to the Convention on the withdrawal of forces agreement signed between Washington and Baghdad in 2008.

As the countdown to the withdrawal of the last U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of this year escalated armed attacks against Iraqi security personnel.

When U.S. President Barack Obama end the Iraq war, was looking forward to the start of a new phase of relations between the two countries. If the United States played the possession of the papers well, will prove to everyone that the new phase is more important than the withdrawal of U.S. forces. Critics say that the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq is a defeat for the United States and a victory for Iran, it also makes Iraq susceptible to the outbreak of civil war. They may not be wrong about that.

I have worked in Iraqi politics about eight years. I was an advocate of increasing U.S. forces in Iraq, and assisted in the negotiation of the Convention of 2008, which set conditions for the withdrawal of U.S. troops by the end of this year. BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Defense Minister Saadoun al-Dulaimi, and the agency, on Tuesday, said that 30 thousand U.S. troops headed for quitting the force of Iraqi territory to Kuwait.

Dulaimi said in comments carried by Al-Iraqiya “The process of withdrawal of U.S. troops began, and 30 thousand soldiers quitting the force went to the direction of the State of Kuwait,” stressing that “the U.S. side is committed to the terms of the security agreement signed between Iraq and the United States.” (more…)

Joint Base Balad

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – The U.S. military has handed over to the Iraqi government its 2nd largest Iraq base, a joint army and air force complex that housed some 36,000 American troops and contractors at the peak of the war, U.S. officials said.

Joint Base Balad was returned to Iraqi control on Tuesday with the departure of the last members of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing as the United States continued the withdrawal of all forces from Iraq by year end.

Baghdad, Nov. 8 (AKnews) – A spokesman for the US forces in Iraq accused Iran of backing armed groups to undermine Iraq’s sovereignty as the US forces prepare to withdraw from Iraq.

US forces have on several occasions warned against Iran’s role in Iraq and it support for armed groups in the country. US forces officials in Iraq claim that Iran backs Shia armed groups under the name of “Qods Force” which has carried out armed actions against the Iraq security forces and US military. (more…)

BAGHDAD – Babinaoz: the U.S. military announced its intention to complete its withdrawal from Iraq by the end of this year, urged the member of the parliamentary Defense and Security to review and evaluate the security plans, and a second deputy said there were plans for a new stage after the withdrawal.

A spokesman for U.S. forces in Iraq, Gen. WASHINGTON (AFP) – The deputy commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, Gen. Thomas Spouyr that the “vast majority” of about 34 thousand American are still in Iraq will leave the country from now until mid-December / December

Troops Moving Out, Investment Moving InU.S. troops have begun the first wave of their final withdrawal from Iraq, and are on schedule for a complete pull-out by the end of the year.

It marks the end of a long military engagement in Iraq, at one time involving 176,000 military personnel in the country.

Iraq’s counterterrorism forces will lose critical intelligence and other specialized capabilities when American forces withdraw at the end of the year.

Some military analysts worry the withdrawal could jeopardize the success these forces have had in weakening al-Qaeda’s leadership in Iraq with daily raids on terrorist leaders.

“I believe there will be very direct and significant impact on our ability to conduct counterterrorism operations,” said Fred Kagan, an influential military analyst who helped formulate the successful “surge” strategy in Iraq in 2007, which involved sending in more U.S. troops to pacify the country.

Stanford military experts interviewed by The Daily were not surprised by the announcement President Obama delivered on Fri., Oct. 21 that the United States would withdraw all troops from Iraq by the end of the year. The announcement sets a final end date for almost a decade of U.S. occupation in the country.

“It’s not a surprise,” said Colonel Joseph Felter, a senior research fellow at Stanford’s Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC). “We’ve planned to leave for quite some time.”

Prior to joining CISAC, Felter served in Iraq and Afghanistan and was the leader of the International Security and Assistance Force, Counterinsurgency Advisory and Assistance Team (CAAT) in Afghanistan.

Baghdad, Omar Abdel-Latif: Provided for security and defense committee in the Iraqi parliament to the government the names of the six countries to benefit from them in the import of weapons for the armed forces.

Preamble

The United States of America and the Republic of Iraq, referred to hereafter as “the Parties´´:

Recognizing the importance of: strengthening their joint security, contributing to world peace and stability, combating terrorism in Iraq, and cooperating in the security and defense spheres, thereby deterring aggression and threats against the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iraq and against its democratic, federal, and constitutional system;

Affirming that such cooperation is based on full respect for the sovereignty of each of them in accordance with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter;

Out of a desire to reach a common understanding that strengthens cooperation between them;

Without prejudice to Iraqi sovereignty over its territory, waters, and airspace; and
