The U.S. Department of State’s Office of Iraq Affairs has hosted a Doing Business in Iraq Workshop in Washington, D.C, where over 100 U.S. businesses interested in all sectors of the Iraqi economy registered.
The workshop is part of a larger initiative that aims to engage, educate, and support U.S. businesses as well as provide information on the business climate, risk factors, and upcoming business opportunities in Iraq. Baghdad (news) .. said the Minister of Commerce Khairallah Hassan Babiker that there are a lot of presentations by a number of private sector companies for the purpose of investment in supermarkets, which are now under consideration by the Ministerial Committee formed for this purpose.
The minister said in a statement Department of Commerce has received the Agency (news) a copy of it today: that this matter is in cooperation with the National Investment Commission to choose the best offers on the basis of reputation and gravity of those companies and high efficiency in the implementation of such a project.








On Wednesday, March 23rd, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Iraq & Afghanistan Investment & Reconstruction Task Force and the New York U.S. Export Assistance Center, in conjunction with JP Morgan, will host a half-day seminar discussing the business opportunities for U.S. companies in Iraq. The seminar will give attendees a greater insight into the types of opportunities for U.S. companies in the reconstruction efforts in Iraq.
