Iraqi leaders call Talabani wishing quick recovery from surgery; Talabani will continue his efforts for political resolution

Talabani receives congratulations for successful surgery

Baghdad (AIN) –the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani received several phone calls from Iraqi officials to congratulate him for the success of the surgery he underwent in Germany.

A presidential statement received by the All Iraq News Agency cited Wednesday “The Premier Nouri al-Maliki made a phone call to congratulate President Talabani for the success of his surgery and wished him quick recovery and safe return to Iraq.”

“President Talabani received a phone call from President of Kurdistan region Masoud Barzani, wishing him speedy recovery and eternal health,” the statement added.

“Each the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Iraqiya Slate Ayad Allawi, former Vice-President Adil Abdul Mahdi and former Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani made phone calls expressing their congratulations for the success of the surgery Talabani underwent,” the statement mentioned.

“For his part, president Talabani thanked the Iraqi officials for their calls and their wishes,” the statement concluded.

President Jalal Talabani left to Germany on last Sunday in order to have medical examinations and a surgery, described later as successful.

Talabani’s office mentioned that “Talabani will return to Iraq when the Preparatory Committee ends its procedures to hold the National Conference he called for to settle the current political crisis and continue Talabani’s efforts to build the Federal and Democratic Iraq.”
